Does anyone else get a hilarious cartoonish mental image when they imagine this? Insert a pun about the squirrel and nuts...

Makes me think of the squirrel that got into my basement. Did alot of damage trying to get out before he died, probably a heart attack, as he was 'going squirrly'.

Last night my kids and I took our kites and headed out to the open field near our house. Four jack rabbits were grazing nearby, and we went about our business as they watched intently. About twenty minutes into flying our kites, one of the rabbits suddenly sat bolt upright, and started running across the field at us. I started laughing, and the kids noticed it tearing at us. And they took off running towards it. My son started yelling and waving his arms, the jack rabbit started darting from side to side while still making headway towards them....

It ended with the jackrabbit veering off within the last three feet. It was the most absurd little game of chicken I'd ever seen, and all for no apparent reason (especially why my kids would rush it in turn, which they got quite the lecture for).

Totally bizarre.

I remember the first time I saw a grey squirrel, I thought it was a cat. Looked like it would snack on the little red ones if they ever got close enough.

Perhaps the rabbit had rabies? That could explain the erratic behavior.8O

The book 'Watership Down' provides great insight into bunnies. I read this book as a teen then again to my daughter as 'bedtime stories'. Bunnies are screwed up I learned.

Squirrels are brave souls i notice if there are more then one squirrel in an area there will be very few or no european starlings or the crazy black birds. I think thats a good thing cause ive been attacked by starlings more than i have squirrels. Next to rats i think squirrels have adapted the best to city living for mammels.

Rabbits tend to run all crazy as a way to dodge predators if your child was running towards it the rabbit was probally trying to cut your child off. In my opinion cause thats what they do when ive chased them growing up.
