Players still not wearing visors are dinosaurs......or stupid. If a person has the talent to play hockey at the NHL level, why in the world would one risk losing it all because of a stick/eye injury that could likely have been avoided? I never had that kind of talent but I played hockey for many years....with a visor and without. I've probably been cut on the face six or eight times by a wayward stick. Thankfully, not in the eye.

I don't remember where I heard this but I'm sure it was from a commentator during one of the U18 IIHF hockey games a couple of years back. Basically, the commentator mentioned something about the use of full face masks at the junior level and the lack of them at the pro level. He believed it was peer pressure - the mentality is, players who wear full face masks are rookies...

Soooo - what will it be:

The Sens outraged and energized from the win and the cheap attack. . .

or

The Ducks stepping up in the absence of Pronger (awesome defenseman) and fighting mad after the loss?

Pangloss

Early in the playoffs I was picking Ottawa to win the whole thing. The Sens dispatched their early opponents fairly quickly. I don't understand what has happened in this series with the Ducks. I thought the Sens would walk all over the Ducks. Some have said it was the long nine day lay-off. I have no idea. If the Sens step up tonight and win the fourth game, it is a whole new ball of wax. Presumably, they would then have a bit of that theoretical momentum that the Ducks couldn't find in game three.
So, if the Sens win tonight, it will be the Sens in 6? Who knows?

The material shouild be changed, Cherry did a little demo on hockey night in canada about them.
Compared them to 'same' years ago, no similarity at all. It wasn't a glancing blow at all, it was
very obviously a 'real' albow to the head. There is 'no' reason to deliberately target someones head,
he did that on his first suspension, and again on this one, good thing this is the playoffs, or the
suspension would be tougher. They are thinking of his team, and being lenient, and that is OK
I guess, for now.
My husband has been in the heat of the battle in hockey for years, knows the feeling of a elbow
hit, (and that was with the old pads), so he realizes what these knew hits must feel like, or, as
you stated, most players don't even know what happened to them, as they are not fully conscious
when they hit the ice. They showed a close up and the guys eyes were dazed and glassy laying
there, the camera was right in close.
Someone as big and talented as Pronger has to stop doing this, it is not some 'goon' who can't do
anything else, he is a very talented player, but I notice his 'cool and control' begins to leave him
as soon as he isn't controlling the game any longer, he has many other choices he can make, and
sticking that big elbow out, isn't one of them, don't forget they are not standing still, they are
moving at a fast pace, the impact is big, just try walking into a door or wall or anything, and you
will notice the impact is much greater than one would every think.
Prior to the advent of weapons-grade elbow pads that play happened 3 times a period. I hope they fit Pronger for a skirt so he can play in the new NHL.

I agree. I remember when Sundin got clipped in the face, and he stated that he would wear a visor when he came back. Of course, it was only for a little while, and then he took it off. It is definately not having your hockey career ended by blindness.

Bryan Berard(I think that is his name) has diminished sight in his one eye now due to a stick, and he was lucky to even be able to come back and play. I am not even sure if he is playing anymore.

Pronger was skating backwards. It was a glancing blow at best. If that's all it takes to get a suspension then the players should wear dresses.

It is Pronger's 7th infraction, so, he wouldn't have been suspended if it was his first, actually he wouldn't have had anything cause the ref missed it, didn't even give him a penalty, same as his last
suspension, no call at all, guess that's cause he's so small, gets lost in the crowd.

As far as how the hits really are, is this, one of 3 ways, the way the opposition fans want to see them, the way the home
team fans want to see them, and the way they actually happen.
Your sure hung up on women's clothes, it seems.
Looks like Ottawa is all done now, although Emery played a very good game tonight, their defense looked weak at times, too many good chances for Anaheim.

Are you actually saying that Campbell deliberately ignored a hit that would have deserved a
suspension, 'I don't think so', there is no bias on Campbell's part, he has no reason to do such a
thing, he has always been fair in the past, and, if Burke was told to mind his own business, he
probably said something outlandish, that deserved that comment.

Maybe so, but the proof is in the pudding. They handed out a suspension for one incident and didn't even review another similar (worse) incident. How come?

I don't consider the other incident 'worse', that is an opinion. Pronger has now had 7 suspensions,
does that give you a hint? They are fed up with him now. He doesn't seem to learn. What will it
take, a permanent injury. The player he elbowed is not back, did you notice, or do you think that
is just 'acting'.
Neil was lunging with outstretched arms, no elbow, just goony stuff, no injury, could have been a
penalty, but no suspension.
