...THEY shouldn't try and pin it as a Harper mistake, im an anti-harperite I guess you'd say, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in responsibility...

speaking of responsibility
What the government will do, if we do not get a clear mandate, the clear will of Parliament to extend for two years and beyond, is proceed cautiously with a one year extension.

who said that?

You should really put in the whole quote. Thats part of that whole "tricking people rather than convincing them" bit I was walking about.
They said after than two years they would go for another year, then another year, then go it alone and try to get a mandate from the Candian people (ie, a popular vote not going into a battle of political schemes). Which I can agree with. If their domestic policy didn't scare me to death I could almost vote for them.
Should that turn out not to be the case, this government is not in a position to simply walk away or to run away. What the government will do, if we do not get a clear mandate, the clear will of Parliament to extend for two years and beyond, is proceed cautiously with a one year extension. We cannot walk away quickly. We will proceed with another year and if we need further efforts or a further mandate to go ahead into the future, we will go so alone and we will go to the Canadian people to get that mandate.

So, what have those stalwarts of the Liberal Party of Canada chosen to name this bill?
Possible choices:

A Bill to Abandon the Good People of Afghanistan to the Tender Mercies of Lunatic Islamists Because We, as Canadians, Lack Anything Faintly Resembling Cojones.
A Bill to Enable the Subjugation and Murder of Afghani Women so Canadian Soldiers Won't Get in a Fight.
A Bill to Support the Reconstruction of Terror Training Camps for the Glory of Allah.
A Bill To Press the Lips of All National Politicians Firmly to the Arse of Quebecois Conciousness. (Damn, even the Conservatives would vote for that one)
A Bill to Enable Canada to Place a Dagger Firmly and Directly Between the Shoulder Blades of Her Allies.
The Cut and Run Bill.
The We Surrender Bill
The Western Civilization Ain't Worth saving Anyway Bill
The Cowards' Bill
And I could so go on.......

This SO pisses me off......

We'll get out when the fight is over. If we have ANY claim to decency as a people or a nation.

The correct answer is Stephen Harper said it in Commons at the beginning of May 17th vote to extend the mission until 2009.

the Hansards
...I think I also need to be clear, given the events over the last 24 hours or so, of what the consequences would be if there were a No vote. Let me be clear on this. This would be a surprise to this government. In debates in this chamber up until last month and in private meetings until very recently, we had every reason to believe that three of four parties, which have consistently supported this action, would continue to do so.

Should that turn out not to be the case, this government is not in a position to simply walk away or to run away. ...
but thanks for the entertaining exemplification of revisionism.

Who did the surgery? Parrot? He's a cowboy, but man, what a surgeon. He hangs out at biker bars, and has an amazing collection of cowboy boots, and you remember when Garth Brooks came to town a few years ago? Garth stayed at his house, not at the Hilton. If I ever need a bypass, I want him. (One of my neighbors is one of the infusion techs, who runs the machines that bypass the blood while you're under the knife).
Good luck recovering, Colpy.
