What book is that? Is that that Big Black thing with all the pages in it? The one that forms 90% of our Liturgy--that book?--yeah...I've heard of it:)

heeheehee. You must LOVE it when perfect strangers off the net suppose to tell you that you don't know the meaning of Bible verses.

I am always fascinated how the wealthy receive such acknowledgement for giving milliions to the poor of other nations, how military budgets are astronomical, how political salaries are designed for billionaires because they spend little of their personal salary on the job - most of their expenses are covered under other budget items.

And I read how the people for whatever reason are cast into pre-begging penury....how dare the government allow anyone under it's care spend one day in hunger or without proper shelter and yes, some form of communication with the outside world, a phone, a television, and a computer and enough money to purchase good food....and assistance from others when necessary.

There is something very wrong with this picture. Why give to anyone who is not within the national borders, or fight wars for whatever honorable reason when people are clinging to desperation wondering how they will survive month after month under conditions worse than prison itself.

Interesting concept.
"A person that is poor, pays more for necessities, then someone who wealth."
I find poor people to purchase lower end products(necessities), and therefore have to purchase more then if they were to purchase a quality item.
Scenario 1
A poor person purchases second hand clothing. The life spend of the clothing is greatly reduced. this person goes back and purchases more in a given year. Transportation costs, time loss, and quaint rises.
Why not buy it new? IE. a pair of chains at Zellers for $20.00. 1 trip. by bus $6.00 verses 3 pairs at a thrift shop totaling $30.00 and 3 trips by bus $18.00.

Or a person could shop at Frenshies.

Are you, let me see if I get this, suggesting I have NOT read this passage in context? Pay tell, do give me your exegesis of the passage. Remember it must be consistent with the faith as it has always been known and taught , and not some off the wall "the Holy Ghost whispered in my ear" mumbo-jumbo type of explanation.
A woman was being chastised by the disciples for wasting expensive perfumed oil to annoint Jesus. They said it would be better to sell the oil and use the money to help the poor. Then Jesus said, 'You will always have the poor.' How is my interpretaion mumbo-jumbo or off-the-wall?
