Dion has just decided two things:

One, he is lord and emperor of the Liberal Party, and the local riding associations are meaningless.
Two, the Liberal Party is no longer the Liberal Party of Canada, since they have decided to not represent all of the country.

I live in the riding and know what's going on, you as usual are guessing. The liberals couldn't get anyone to run against the scumbag McKay. That was the case two weeks ago, and that's from a local liberal insider.

It's worth noting that provincially the NDP are the official opposition being 3 seats back of a PC minority government.

the pot calls the kettle black.

Peter G. MacKay CON 17134 40.66% X
Alexis MacDonald NDP 13861 32.89%
Dan Walsh LIB 10349 24.56%
David Orton GRN 671 1.59%
Allan H. Bezanson ML 124 0.29%

anything else you want to pull out of your ass while everyone's watching?

Hey, look at that. If 100% of the Liberals voted Green, the winner would have been.......MacKay.

Or, to look at it another way, to please 671 Green supporters, Dion has decided to piss off 10,349 Liberal supporters.

Makes sense to me.

This is a win for the NDP more than anybody and far from brilliant if you consider the outrage of voters who feel they are being manipulated.

I'll say it now like I have said before Dion has no grasp of the mood of Canadians and he will be gone within a year.

Where's Frank when you need him?

Anybody want to bet?

Thus ensuring the greens will not be in a position to win a seat for another 5 years. May and Dion have single handedly landed a huge blow to the environmental movement in Canada. Ahhhh, the irony.

Kind of like when ol Ralph Nader ran for the Greens in America in 2000, which handed W victory.

I misunderstood the number of votes in play. Thanks for your crappy remark.

The facts don't change. Even if May got 100% of the Liberal votes, she would still be a distant third. She has no hope of winning this riding.

Another thing that Dion fails to recognize is that the more left he steers the Liberal party, the more the Liberals lose votes to the NDP. Let's not forget the thousands of NDP voters that hold their nose and vote Liberal strategically.

If the lastest voting trends continue, there may come a tipping point where those Dippers will not bother voting Liberal at all and we may find the NDP ahead of the Liberals.

That was before they shut down Trenton Works....now there's a couple hundred guys with nothing better to do.

Let's face it - if the libs can't find anyone to run (something I would dispute, based on the visits I've had there), that means they know they don't have a chance; so what hope does May have? Even less.

In other news:

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. (CP) - Green Leader Elizabeth May says she is giving the "benefit of the doubt" to a party candidate in Vancouver who described the collapse of the Twin Towers on 9-11 as beautiful.
