The protocol for anyone who believes he is receiving supernatural messages from Jesus, Mary, a saint, or an angel is to submit the private revelations to the bishop of his diocese for investigation. If the bishop rules that nothing supernatural is going on, and the person continues to be troubled by such "messages," he should consult with a priest and/or a medical professional for assistance in stopping them.

yeah, okay, but what if the person isnt roman catholic?

Morning Maple! Hope you have a good day today!

No, I'm not saying it is unimportant, I am however stating that the Bible is a collection of God's words to His people. It is a book of spiritual awareness and liberation, but should not be used to chain a person down in the sense that they cannot reach out to other people because the Bible is in their way. I despair at people,as I wrote to AJ, that never seem to stop mis-quoting Scriptures endlessly to people who need more than words to help them along. The Bible is obviously part of the Tradition of the Church, but it is certainly not more important than the Church or the people of God. Real faith is shown, not talked about. It is in your mannerisms and habits that people see Christ, not in how well you can flip off Bible passages.

that makes sense. you cant feed a starving person with a bible. so we need to read the bible, but first help people, right?

The original Bible, still used by the Catholic, Orthodox and traditional Anglicans, has 72 books. The protestants, Martin Luther to be specific, took it upon himself to remove 7 books from the Old Testament Canon. Rather an odd thing to do for a faith group that claims to be "Bible" people. The problem was, Luther realized that the 7 books supported theologies he wasn't comfortable with, such as praying for the dead for example, so he arbitraily removed them from his edition of the Bible.

well, if as aj says the bible is the word of god, like he wrote it personally or something, how could luther just take books out of the bible like that?isnt that like going against god? what are these books anyways..how can i know if my bible has them in them or not?

I can't believe the bible is God's word. Apart from my not-formed belief system, The book itself was compiled by humans. it wasn't what God said, and if it was it was third or fourth hand, translated and transcribed, then compiled by humans to show what they wanted it to show.

there may be some of God's words in it but i guarantee it's full of human influences too

hmmm.but maybe god made them write it down? would hat be so hard to believe. if we can channel to the dead and have those kind of experiences, it isnt that hard to accept god can cause his message to get written down.know what i mean.

Without a doubt the Holy Spirit leads us to discovery and faith in God, but AJ, He does not call us to be isolated theologians coming upon faith alone. We are a community. You keep referencing the Church as a human construct. I submit to you that that is our biggest area of disagreement. I know, through what the Bible itself teaches, that the Church was created by Christ. He appointed St. Peter to be the guardian of the early Church, the ROCK upon which the Church would be built.
The Apostles were charged with defending the faith and teaching the faith, and they became the first Bishops of the early Church with Peter as their head as the first Pope. This is both historical and spiritual. Reading the Bible without the guidance of the Church leads to false doctrines and self-appointed theologies, which are potentially spiritually dangerous.

Your advice to Maple to pick up a Bible on her own, without guidance, is both foolish and dangerous to her spiritually. In the secular world we would never appoint a newbie to a job without providing training and guidance. The same is true of the Church. New members must be provided with instruction in the faith and guidance from the Holy Spirit through His Church.

Dear brother Sanctus, even though we both believe in the same God, we have technical difficulties pertaining to choice of worship.

"Upon this rock", has not a physical application but a spiritual one. To be able to "see" the spiritual application one must be able to see the through the eyes of the Spirit of God.

Natural eyes see the physical application of it, as well as all who question the bibles inspiration.

Yea bet I give the bible its true place, because it tells me what God is like, how He works and especially, how much He loves me.

How am I supposed to know who and how God is? By the church? Yes, they may point me in that direction, but it is up to me to search it out.

So the bible is the only true source by which one may get to know God personally, as it is a letter from Him to us.

Now, Jesus is the God of the new heavens and the new earth. It is all there confirmed by Him as He fulfilled all that was ever said about Him in the prophecies.

As I pointed out, but many failed to see or understand what I said about the name Yahshua.

Simply meaning that Yah is the Father Gods name and Shua is the word meaning salvation.

Those two words combined means, "The Fathers Salvation" or better understood as Jesus. (Yeshua)

I have no problem with the Catholic Church, only with its members. It's members should not settle for just the mere observations of the churches ordinances, but should truly seek out God in a more intimate way by searching out all they can about Him.

The same goes for anybody else in any church organization around the world.

"Faith without works"is a true statement brother Sanctus, but again, there is a spiritual message there also.
The spiritual message is this: If I have faith in Jesus, Jesus in me will do the works.

Otherwise, the motive for good works would be strictly for selfish reasons.

That was the jest of that example in the book of James.

Let me give you a verse which explains the spiritual side of the bibles words: Isa 29:18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

"That day" is the day when we see through the eyes of God the things that are of God that are in His word, until then, we are as the blind, being able to see, but yet not see.

Darkness is a condition that shows lack of knowledge. Knowledge of either the physical world or of the spiritual world. The latter one is the one referred to as the blind eyes being opened, to hear the words of God and enabled to See Him.

We all have eyes to see and ears to hear, but many of us are deaf as well as blind. For what we ought to see, we see not, and what we ought to hear, we hear not.

How then can we see and hear?

Read the bible, pray for God to open your eyes and hear His words so that you may understand His love for you.

It is a proven fact, and I am here to testify of it.

I stake my life on it!

Don't be concerned with how many book are in the bible, but be concerned with what the message is.

What is the message? Seek it out and find out for your selves.

I could see where time was that the bible was not avialable, but now, they can be found at almost all yard sales.

There is no excuse! For us to be ignorant of what God has for us to know when His word is so plentiful.
Dust off that bible that has been sitting on that shelve for so long and treasure it with your heart, for in there you will find the source of your salvation.

Meantime, continue going to church, what ever church that is, and just let God do His work in you.

You'll SEE!

It is in your mannerisms and habits that people see Christ, not in how well you can flip off Bible passages.

I am not a priest per say, but I am a priest in the spiritual sense, because I offer up spiritual sacrifices, as well as praises, to the God of my salvation.
And as a simple God loving man, I share Gods love to whom ever would care to listen.

I am ministering to all here on this thread, the love of God. Have I accused anybody of a wrong belief?
Have I denounced any body's beliefs?
Have I made any judgments condemning any body?

Truly, God is a God of love, and I like to share that attribute.

There are many who are troubled in spirit, uncertainty, fear, anxieties, indecisiveness, broken hearted, abused, unforgiving, trouble with life, and the law, in prison and mainly shackled to this worlds un-merciful holds.
These are the key points one should be addressing, not what church one goes to.

The troubled heart has no home, no rest in any church, except for that home, that rest, that only Jesus Christ can give.

And that is what I address here.

I leave with this word: Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

No one human, or earthly thing, can touch you where your at, except Jesus.

I am pointing out sister, that people have eyes, but cannot see. Not that they don't know who God is, for every soul knows that there is something higher than themselves, but the question is, can they see God in their hearts transforming them to be conformed to His Son?

I quote the bible because it is the only true source of God's message to us. Don't get me wrong, God can be seen in all of creation, in the trees, the mountains the universe. But to know this God intimately, we must search Him out with our hearts, not our works.

Once found and once God is in us, then our works will count, because it is Him working in us that we are able to show fourth good works.

If Sanctus can not see, being a priest, then he cannot see.

I love Him as a brother in Christ just as I do for all who post here.

The only question I question, or search out, is in what state is your heart in.

For I know that no priest, or church can touch your heart, only Jesus can, for the heart of you spirit is a spiritual thing, and cannot be touched by human hands.

An no, dear sister, you don't drive me crazy, I fully understand and am patient with all who wouild care to talk about God.

If I see God touching someone because of my efforts, I will have received a million joys, for then, I would know that they too, have received the same love as I have, no different.

For I am no better than anybody else!

so do you think dreams mean anything? i read that they do in one book, but this other psychology book i read says they dont.

Good Morning Love.

I believe dreams mean a great deal. If I dont get a meaning emmediately then I reread my dream in a few days and see what I get. If thats still no good I have a dream symbol book that helps me. Like just now the dream Im remembering VAUGELY is about the church my Sis and Me. I was very very upset but my Sis calmed me and Fae kissed my forehead. It was quire calming and the meaning I got from it was "their are many pathes through love" Drerams are interpritations of what your heart and mind are going through. BUT sometimes a rose is but a rose and your just hoving fun in Dreamtime :)

Now, if you get in trouble in class I'll sit you in the corner myself! :p

Maybe, but what about the teachings of the faith? Not so easy to dismiss. The reality is, the Christian faith is ver exclusive, right from the words of Jesus Himself.

Sure it is....quit being so exclusive and follow your Jesus' teachings. He wasnt exclusive at all infact he asked ALL to his table and STILL Loved them if they didnt accept his way.

The message as a whole is a picture painted. There are many objects within this picture, which add to the whole message of the picture. If you can understand what I am saying.

The theme of the whole picture is the message, not the items within the picture that are magnified.

When we magnify some items within the picture, it is there where we miss-interpret the whole picture.

Am I making any sense to you here?

Take for example a family picture. What is the theme of the picture? Family right? But what if you only saw one individual in that picture because of whatever reason, then the theme of the whole is no longer family, but individual.

The focus is drawn away by the one individual.

it's possible. but if that's the case, why did He get four people to write the same story so differently? and why did He get the gospel of mary to be left out?

There werent just 4 there were......... http://www.gnosis.org/ (I THINK its 34 books) And a bunch of men decided the books werent good enough to enter. BUT in fairness some WERE nutty but OTHERS just werent acceptable in that time.

Did you know that the king James bible was written by monks and if it wasnt written as King James dictated then the Monks were BEHEADED!!! That was the Roman Chatholic Vertion fore centries.

The four gospels where chosen because they showed a different version of the christ story. Each gives a different point of view.

I Love young ones with questions, it makes my heart soar. BUT NEVER take my word or anyone elses........research for your own self.
