Welcome Davey-Jones!

WOW a real space cadet.....I'm jealous.

I live in California and we always hope Florida will be closed for a landing lol.

Congratulations on the last successful mission....I should point out a Canadian Mission Specialist gave the female astronaut a hand when she was out for a few seconds....cooperation is always good! I don't know why the crew
are expected to "stand" at attention after a mission when their legs must be like rubber and sooooo heavy.

Thanks for all the info Tracey.
I finish in April, complete my 400 hrs. consolidation, and then write my provincials in September.
Since I posted this I was tlaking to a nurse on the ward that started with the unit 25 years ago.. (I mean she started when the unit opened). She was in Obstetrics and left when a baby died in her arms. She's quite upfront with the fact that she couldn't handle that.
I know I'd never be able to do what you do. I've worked geriatrics a lot as a PSW, and understand that death happens regularly there, but I"m wise enough to know I'd burn out fast with sick children.

They have the study guide for the NCLEX in our campus bookstore as well and the one for our Provincial exam.Perhaps I"ll pick it up and have a boo.

My aim is to be gainfully employed in a fulltime job (which is quite the trick in Ontario) by the time my eldest daughter hits College herself.. and that's two years away.:D

Congrats on being almost done! I worked in Toronto and our unit had lots of full time jobs (at Mount Sinai). It was a great hospital. I hear things are improving as far as full time positions becoming available so hopefully you'll find something.

I never thought I'd want to work with sick babies, I just kind of fell into it. It is sad when one dies, but usually it is the best that can come from a bad situation and that comforts us nurses. My most meaningful experience as a nurse was looking after a baby who died. I still have the card and pictures the family sent me. They adressed it to "Tracy, RN" and sent it to the hospital. I'm so lucky it found its way to me considering we have about 80 nurses in our unit alone. If I do nothing else of value in my life, that one thing would be enough. Last night I worked in postpartum and had fun with some big healthy babies. The best thing about nursing is there is a fit for everyone. I hope you find the specialty that fits for you.

I'm a student in an Early Childhhod Education course. I want to work with young children so that I can make a difference when it counts most. I want to help people to grow up loving themselves for who they are, appreciating those around them, and enjoying life in general.

Ha! Yep, I've found the parents to be a lot harder to work with than the children so far. I'm sure I'll figure out a few strategies for dealing with them along the way.

What I do and why...

I work as an accounting technician, specializing in tax preparation for a company that is a Trustee in Bankruptcy. I love it because my work is interesting and the people I work with are fantastic!!

I've spread my dreams beneath your feet
