Another week, another threat being made against Canadian sovereignty by Donald Trump and his allies.

The U.S. president once again referred to Canada as the “51st state” during a campaign rally on Wednesday in Bullhead City, Ariz., except this time he suggested that the idea was an eventuality amid a trade war with the federal government.

“They’ll end up being the 51st state because it’s the only way it works,” Trump said during the rally. “We don’t need them, but they need us. And why should we be losing $80, $90, $100 billion a year to support a country that isn’t one of us.

“So they’ll be doing something just like Greenland. You’ve heard about Greenland: ‘Oh, it’s terrible, it’s so terrible what President Trump has done.'”

‘Plate’s getting larger all the time’
Trump made the comment after signing a Greenland security deal last month with Denmark, whose territories include the Arctic island. He has long expressed a desire to control Greenland and its resources, a dispute that sparked concern earlier this year among the countries’ NATO allies that the U.S. could attempt a takeover.

During Wednesday’s rally, Trump referred to Greenland as the latest addition to “our beautiful plate” while also mentioning Venezuela, where the U.S. launched military strikes that captured president Nicolas Maduro. The U.S. then signed a deal to increase American access to Venezuela’s oil reserves.

“Our plate’s getting larger all the time,” Trump said. “How about Venezuela? We’re doing pretty good there, too?”

As for Canada, Trump continued to recite his grievances about the country’s dairy and auto industries and his complaint that the federal government “treats us very badly” in terms of trade.

He has also in the past railed against a perceived trade imbalance between the countries, a lack of parity between the Canadian and U.S. currencies and countermeasures that the federal and provincial governments have put in place after the White House began imposing blanket tariffs shortly after Trump began his second term in office.

“Not anymore, it’s a whole different ballgame now that Trump is in town,” he said. “Canada ripped us off with tariffs.”

Increasing acrimony in trade relationship
Some American officials have become increasingly hostile when mentioning Canada since efforts to mend the trade rift broke down in August, leaving tariffs, counter-tariffs and outright import bans in its wake.

Peter Navarro, a longtime Trump trade adviser, told Canadian lobbyists to “get the hell out of our country” late last month during a conference in Washington, D.C., adding that “Canada, economically, is like a rowboat; we’re an aircraft carrier. How’s that gonna end?”

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, meanwhile, took a shot at outspoken Premier Doug Ford during an appearance on CNBC in early September, saying that “Ontario, with the great city of Toronto, would be last out of our 51st states.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who headed the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, also waded into the geopolitical fracas last week in the wake of the Quebec election, saying La Belle Province, Saskatchewan and Alberta should separate from Canada.

The federal government has responded with measures that include seeking closer ties to the European Union with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcoming Prime Minister Mark Carney to Strasbourg, France, last month to propose that Canada become an “associate member” of the bloc.

And in British Columbia, the government announced that its welcome signs at the U.S. border would include the phrase “strong, proud and NEVER the 51st state. Sorry.”

It's hilarious when anyone criticizes the dear leader Kim Jong Orange, they suddenly have TDS.

LOL!
Dear leader lol. The dear leader is Mark Carney . Look at your own government if you want to see all the things you think Trump and America are doing is happening right under your nose in Canada . Why do you think a good portion of Quebec and Alberta want to separate . It is way easier to criticize the other guy when there are no mirrors to look into .

U.S. President Donald Trump has reignited his rhetoric around Canada becoming the “51st state,” shortly after his administration warned Canadian politicians against getting involved in U.S. affairs as a distraction from their own stupidity and ineptitude.

In a podcast appearance on Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador (but not of good will) to Canada Pete Hoekstra said America is “closely watching Canadian activities” for election interference, referencing comments from Canada’s Industry Minister, Mélanie Joly, about retaliatory tariffs. “Keep your nose out of American politics,” he said.

Joly has hit back against his claims, saying: “We never do that, and we never accept that also being done to us in Canada,” while speaking to reporters in Ottawa on Wednesday. “What I’ve done in the U.S. is to attract investments…and that will continue to be my strategy in the U.S. and also around the world, & stop saying I’m your imaginary Canadian girlfriend!”
Later that day, Trump reiterated his ongoing stance that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state at a campaign rally in Arizona while compensating for his small peener. He made the comments the same day Hoekstra warned Canadian politicians against engaging in behaviour that could be inferred as election interference, because of that small peener.

Carney announces changes to immigration criteria from PMO’s office , who even heard about it . Should I go on ? Trump takes a dump and Ron will have it on line in seconds .

15%-20% or so of Albertian will vote to separate, and there won’t be a future referendum on this. Alberta makes their point that they should be taken seriously. Goal accomplished. Quebec’s been threatening to separate longer than I’ve been alive, & waiting for that to happen it’s like waiting on global warming or for Iran to develop nukes.

Trump and the Americans are currently the wildcard coin toss that can potentially have a greater impact at this point in time and I’ll stop posting about him when he stops being relevant, or funny as part of a future punchline if that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Carney in Canada would be Carney of Brookfield still if Trump didn’t happen on his second term as Justin Trudeau imploded and the Libs where in the toilet, & that’s Carney’s relevance being that he parachuted into Parliament on Trumps whatever…

You have already decided what the vote will be because the Torontocentric media tells you that . It will probably be closer to 40 45 % and that sentiment is there for a reason that doesn’t begin with Trump . Quebec has been threatening separation for ever yet despite all the largest the rest of Canada sends them many still want out , why ? It certainly has nothing to do with Trump . oh well Canada got suckered let’s watch Trump . How do you feel about your PM courting associate membership in the EU who we already have deal with ? Parliment has no say but hey Trump . No wonder we get the government we deserve.

Time will tell, and that’s a short amount of time with today being October 19th. The answer might lay somewhere between our two predictions.

In the weeks and months ahead, there’ll be plenty of time to dissect the referendum results and debate what a meaningful reform of Confederation might look like, if any at all is to occur from this.

With luck there will be enough votes for a referendum to make Ottawa sit up and take notice. From the comments I get from friends in Alberta a high percentage of of those voting to separate really just want the same consideration that Quebec gets.

I would just prefer that Quebec no longer gets those considerations rather than extending considerations to the other 9 provinces.
That has also been mentioned. Something about equality. I doubt there is much appetite for that in the Quebec that is guaranteed 30% of the House seats, regardless of population.

No. Obviously you didn't bother to read the definition posted.

I need to clarify if you can read.

Can you read? I have to question if you can due to what has been repetitiously posted. Myself and others have tried and tried to give you truth and a broader view of Zionism yet here we are trying to reach you with facts again. Will you ignore it again leaving me to assume you cant read.

How do you explain Christian Zionists, Secular Zionists and surprisingly there are......hold the fucking phone....Im going to blow your fucking mind....youd best take a seat and a handful of Ativan......Muslim Zionism aka Islamic Zionists.....yes. Islamic Zionism

Where did you get the narrow minded view of Zionism only being Jewish?

Muslim Zionism (also called Islamic Zionism) refers to the support by Muslims for Jewish self-determination and a national homeland in the Land of Israel. It is a small, controversial minority perspective within the global Muslim community.

Core Perspectives and Arguments

• Support for Coexistence and Statehood: Proponents argue that recognizing Israel promotes regional peace, economic cooperation, interfaith tolerance, and stability.
• Theological Interpretations: Some advocates cite specific Quranic passages or historical precedents (such as early 20th-century figures like Sharif Hussein or King Faisal I) to argue that Islamic texts allow for or support a Jewish presence and rights in the region.
• Civic Experience: A segment of Muslim supporters includes individuals living inside Israel—such as select Arab-Muslims, Bedouins, or Circassians—who point to their experiences as citizens within a democratic system, with some serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) or public institutions.

Criticisms and Opposition

• Mainstream Islamic and Pro-Palestinian Views: The vast majority of Islamic scholarship and organizations reject Zionism, viewing it as a political and colonial movement that violates Palestinian land rights and sovereignty.
• Charges of "Faith-Washing" and Normalization: Critics—including prominent academics, commentators, and public figures—characterize Muslim Zionism as a form of political normalization or "faith-washing". They argue that it deploys select religious texts out of context to legitimize settler colonialism, ignore Palestinian displacement, and echo official state or diplomatic messaging (often referred to as Hasbara).
• Public Reception: Public discourse on social media and across online communities like Reddit reflects sharply mixed to hostile opinions, with many mainstream Muslims labeling such figures as traitors or misrepresenting Islamic law.

Historical and Modern Context

• Early History: Early political discussions regarding Jewish settlement in Palestine featured varied responses among Arab and Muslim leaders in the early 20th century before hardening into strict anti-Zionist consensus following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
• Modern Shifts: Diplomatic breakthroughs like the 2020 Abraham Accords opened up new channels for state-level normalization and public dialogue between Arab/Muslim states and Israel, providing a contemporary framework for proponents of Muslim-Israeli engagement.
Would you like to explore historical figures involved in early-century dialogues, or learn more about how the Abraham Accords shifted regional normalization efforts?
