It will be interesting when the USA and Venezuela football teams play each other in a "friendly" at Chase Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, on Sunday 18th January.

Or when Iran and Egypt play each other in the World Cup Pride Match.

SeattleFWC26, the non-profit group organizing the World Cup events in the city, designated a June 26 match between Egypt and Iran as the “Pride Match.” The game roughly coincides with the start of Seattle’s annual Pride Parade. And so, the group has taken it upon itself to unofficially brand the sporting event with messages, and artwork, of LGBT inclusion.
Any predictions on the body count?
Which match?

Yep, but it’s still pretty funny. Anywho…President Trump bombed Venezuela and detained its president without informing Congress or the Senate, keeping a deadly secret with only high-ranking members of his Cabinet…so standard Trump operational whatever.
Trumps news-ish ramblings start in 15 minutes.

I reckon FIFA will cancel the match. It'll be too dangerous. There'll be riots. And not just inside the stadium. You know what football fans are like.

I actually thought the two countries are to play each other in this year's World Cup. I realised a couple of hours ago that they're not. Venezuela is the only South American country that has never played in a World Cup and it won't be participating on this year's one. The USA is playing Paraguay at the 2026 World Cup. Late at night and after a few years and seeing the 2026 World Cup draw for the first time I obviously got confused between Paraguay and Venezuela.

Somehow, I don't think the event will get the government of either country to start taking more interest in gay rights. Iran's female footballers play their matches wearing hijabs.

And Jamaicans have braids. What's your point?

The only difference between there are here? No loud mouthed flamers.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said Saturday that the government did not know the whereabouts of Maduro or first lady Cilia Flores and demanded “immediate proof of life.” The country’s interior minister, Diosdado Cabello, described the U.S. attack as “cowardly.”

Loud explosions jolted neighborhoods near the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base in the eastern Caracas community of La Carlota early Saturday, residents said, with smoke rising from one of the air base’s hangars. One woman watching from her apartment with a clear view of the base said the detonations were “deafening.” Residents in several parts of the city, including near La Carlota, reported experiencing power outages.

Finally, a President with some intestinal fortitude. The actual President of Venezuela was in exile in the U.S. wasn't he? I bet the Venezuelans are happy!!

…& coincidentally also the country of Venezuela…with the largest oil reserves on the planet. Probably just serendipity.

In case you're wondering. . .

Democrats, Europeans, and others will strongly deplore this violation of international law.

Republicans will cautiously suggest that it's "disturbing."

The mouth-flapping will increase global warming incrementally.

Nobody will do Jack shit about any of it.
