Nicolás Maduro is still the legitimate leader of Venezuela, the country's acting president said in an exclusive interview with NBC News.

“I can tell you President Nicolás Maduro is the legitimate president. I will tell you this as a lawyer, that I am. Both President Maduro and Cilia Flores, the first lady, are both innocent,” acting President Delcy Rodríguez told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker in Caracas, in her first interview with an American journalist since taking office.

As her predecessor sits in a federal detention facility in New York after being kidnapped captured by U.S. forces last month, Rodríguez is now seemingly being welcomed back into the diplomatic fold by President Donald Trump. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright made a high-profile visit Wednesday as the two countries hammered out details of how Venezuela’s vast oil reserves are to be distributed…to America or American approved clients?

Over $1 billion in Venezuelan oil has been sold and $5 billion more in oil sales are expected in the coming months, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said, and several times that seized and confiscated in International waters…but that’s a different story.

“So the Venezuelans are in charge here in Venezuela (?), but the United States has enormous ‘leverage😉 over the interim authorities in Venezuela — the largest revenue source that funds the government, that funds the government of Venezuela is now controlled by the United States,” Wright said.

If they’re driving positive change that benefits Americans (and is improving the life opportunities of people in Venezuela?), that money will flow. If they steer off that path, we have just simply tremendous ‘leverage’.”

The U.S. eased sanctions on Venezuela’s energy sector on Friday, issuing two general licenses that allow global energy companies to resume oil and gas operations in the OPEC member and for other companies to negotiate contracts on investments in new energy operations.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (?) issued a general license allowing Chevron, BP, Eni, Shell and Repsol to resume oil and gas operations in Venezuela.

The other license allows companies around the world to enter contracts for new investments in Venezuelan oil and gas. It does not allow transactions with companies in Russia, Iran, or China or entities owned or controlled by joint ventures with people in those countries.

In an interview on Fox News, the US vice-president, JD Vance, said Venezuela would be able to sell its oil only if it served the interests of Washington. “We control the energy resources, and we tell the regime: you’re allowed to sell the oil so long as you serve America’s national interest, you’re not allowed to sell it if you can’t serve America’s national interest,” Vance said.

Trump announced a deal to access to up to $3bn worth of Venezuelan crude, a sign that Venezuelan government officials are responding to Trump’s demand that they open up to US oil companies or risk more military intervention.

On top of the ongoing embargo on oil, the US energy department has said the “only oil transported in and out of Venezuela” will be through approved channels consistent with US law and US national security interests.
1771278764994.jpegThat level of control over the world’s largest proven reserves of crude oil could give the Trump administration a broader hold on oil supplies globally in ways that could enable it to influence prices. Since the capture of Maduro, Trump has continued to pledge that the US will “run” the country, despite pushback from Rodríguez.

Trump said Venezuela would only buy US-made products with the profits it makes from any deal with Washington to sell oil. In a social media post, he wrote: “I have just been informed that Venezuela is going to be purchasing ONLY American Made Products, with the money they receive from our new Oil Deal.”

Maybe Donny Dipshit is looking for advice on how to do that.
If Nicholas Madero is not the legitimate leader of Venezuela, then his vice president (Delcy Rodriguez) sure as Hell is not currently the legitimate leader of Venezuela…right?

Yet…yet Trump picked her over everyone else including Maria Corina Machado…so if not Maduro…then who is Venezuela’s legitimate president (?) & does it matter?

It’s obvious who is actually ‘ruling’ Venezuela & replacing a dictator with the vice-dictator was expedient to Trump’s America…more so than allowing the leader of the party that apparently won its last election to assume control…as that might not be in Trump & his Billionaire Buddies American interests.
