One of the things about Ottawa Redblacks is that Bob Dyce was never Shawn Burkes guy as much as Tommy Condell was never Bob Dyce's guy. Ottawa chintzed out by keeping Dyce after they let Lapo go because he had a year left on his deal. Somebody thought Dru Brown was worth $300,000 and 3 of their home games were played in absolute downpours. To think how much better off they would e if they had kept LaPo and built a retractable roof dome. If I were them I would hire Chris Jones.

Rider fans need not celebrate too loudly over that win as well. Without the 85 yd interception td the score is 6 - 3 at half time and could have been worse had the kick return td by Pimpleton not get called back. Score could have easily been 14 - 6 for Ottawa and it's the same way they have been winning games all season. That said their D was well prepared for Dru Brown.

Next up Argos and Cats. Should be a good one.

Having the same feeling about both the Argos and Riders as I've had all season. Both teams have consistently let me down.

10.5 points is a big spread especially when the over / under of 49 is projecting a low scoring game. Paying 5 times your money for an Argos win.

Key for the Riders will be A.J. Ouellette and if they can get him rolling. Flip side is the Argos know him well.

Big win for the Riders to lock up the bye and host the Western Final. Special thanks to the refs who made it all possible including resetting the ball on a third down gamble. Weak video replays to back up the calls as well and truly one of the biggest issues with the entire CFL ( poor officiating ).

Who will be the Riders competition is the next big question.

Lucked out and won both bets with Argos beating the spread and going with the under. Now I have money to bet on Edmonton beating the Bombers.

Only one team in the west will miss the playoffs. With Edmonton playing all the teams above them, that could be anybody (except the Riders).

Plenty of excuses coming from Winnipeg this morning which is nice to see. Officials did everything they could once again.

Quite likely too little, too late for the Elks although I think they will play well again against BC next week. Bombers could lose out but Edmonton still needs to win both their games to get in. I would love to see it.

Riders +7.5 pts vs the Bombers looks like a good bet to me. Not worried at all about Jake Maier who will want to have a good game for his own self.

Signing Trevor Harris paid off nicely for Jeremy O'Day who still hasn't won anything and gets another three years. Mace is a bit different situation where he gets re-upped for doing a good job. People are looking at the record and not at how they won those games imo but that's what those guys do. Very likely Harris is re-signed for next year now. The whole paying football ops guys big money with guaranteed contracts is a bit out of hand.

One big hope for the future may be Kurtis Rourke if they can bring him north although he will want to be paid if he does.

On paper they are the only really winning team among a see of near .500 teams and then the Argos and RedBlacks. If that translates in the playoff it could be a cup year. Unfortunately, it doesn't always translate.

I have $300 (triple or nothing) riding on Friday.
Don't expect the Riders to have calls go their way, plus a chance one of their players will get kicked out of the league for touching Zach Collaros but I think your chances are good.

The game does feature two good running backs in Oliviera and Ouellette who might be worth the price of admission on their own. Sask has the better D.
