Amid the tumult of mass firings, the Trump administration’s dismissal of workers who maintain America’s nuclear weapons delivered perhaps the greatest shock. These are people with highly sensitive jobs, the Energy Department would later acknowledge, who should have never been fired.

Almost all the workers were rehired in an embarrassing about-face, a prominent example of how the administration has had to reverse dismissals in multiple instances where its scattershot approach caused deeper damage to agencies than anticipated.

The employees of the National Nuclear Security Administration are stewards of a sprawling government system that keeps 5,000 nuclear warheads secure and ready. They make sure radiation doesn’t leak, weapons don’t mistakenly detonate and plutonium doesn’t get into the wrong hands.

Yet late the night before Valentine’s Day, the Trump administration perfunctorily fired 17 percent of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s workforce, over the strenuous objections of senior nuclear officials.

Way to go, asswit.

Nuclear power, the use of sustained nuclear fission to generate heat and electricity, contributes nearly 20 percent of the electricity generated in America. The United States has used nuclear power for more than 60 years to produce reliable, low-carbon energy and to support national defense activities. Where does that come from?🤔
On the graph below…in Orange (Ironically) America is its own largest supplier as shown by that American flag. Phew!

(Notice that the orange area is North America)

(96%+ of the 28% above comes from Canada?)

So…are Americans going to be paying more to heat & power the 20% of their home’s & factories that are powered by nuclear by about…25% (?) or does Trumps 8D Chess have something else in mind?

Trump might have been better off having Canada fighting off Russia for the last three years since February 2022 (as opposed to Ukraine) so that he could be holding his 1/2 a Trillion $$$ “Or Else!” deal over Canada’s neck.

Did Trump factor this in with his eight dimensional chess I wonder before he became President again recently?😳

I honestly don’t blame the American people for this choice because…well…Canada managed to vote in Trudeau three times (not just twice), after knowing what Trudeau’s & Politics can do to a nation from his father.

PS…this is from more than a decade ago.

Is the Russian economy at the point where they'd buy commodities from them to save their ass and fuel the war or are they at the point they buy their assets and control their economy?

No idea…but Biden signed (May of 2024) legislation to prevent purchases of Uranium from Russia, so I’m assuming (?) they (Russia) found other markets for their product outside of sanctions, etc…?

How much ramped up production in Wyoming as a percentage of their domestic requirements?

If Canada is 27% of North America’s (96+%) on the pie graph of America’s total of 28%…Wyoming is 1%-ish or so?
Yes, uranium production in the United States has been increasing, including in the third quarter of 2024.
Explanation
In the third quarter of 2024, uranium production increased 24% from the previous quarter, to 121,296 pounds.
In the second quarter of 2024, uranium production increased 18% from the previous quarter, to 97,709 pounds.
In 2023, exploration and development drilling for uranium was at its highest levels since 2013 and 2014, respectively.

So if they were about one percent or less before, are they up to about 1% now?

Instant 100% environmental fee on uranium going to the US. That would not count as a tariff.
