No, it's assault on a Federal officer. I'd cite the statute, but as you've just demonstrated, you'll never admit you were wrong, so why bother?
It doesn't matter if Fed or civil cops. One isnt better than the other.

CNN —
A man who assaulted United States Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick with pepper spray on January 6, 2021, was sentenced on Friday to 80 months behind bars.

Julian Khater pleaded guilty in September to two counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding officers with a dangerous weapon. His co-defendant, George Tanios, pleaded guilty last summer to disorderly conduct and entering and remaining in a restricted building. Khater was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $2,000 in restitution.

Tanios was sentenced to time served and one year of supervised release. He previously spent more than five months behind bars.

How many months does Khater have to go?

So would not an adjustment to the value of the Canadian dollar to say par be the same result as a 25% tarrif?

The problem I believe is the U.S. is saying Canada is dumping goods on the American economy at low prices and they want to produce their own goods. It's not like there is any buying power left for most Canadians.

However it works out watch for the banks to be exempt.

There is already a significant illegal tariff on softwood lumber. Perhaps Trump will fix this.
That’s in America’s favour, it has been going on for decades already has it not? I’m assuming that’s not gonna be one of his priorities, but nobody really knows what the guy is doing (definitely including myself)…so your guess is as good as mine or anybody else else’s, potentially including Trump himself.

We arent the target. Mexico is. Trump isnt sending the military to patrol our border to keep migrants and drugs out.
Not preventing Canadian politicians from running their jaws though….

So of course, his two pets clones, one of which is so distant from him that she’s whatever whatever…& the other one is such an outsider that they both have to back his policies regardless…

😉 But maybe this is what we’re seeing and why?

Speaking from Washington, D.C., Smith told reporters that she didn’t care if her fellow Canadians overwhelmingly supported hitting back at the U.S. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said Tuesday she continues to favour cross-border diplomacy over retaliatory threats.

Even Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, usually a reliable partner of Smith’s on energy issues, looks to be letting her fight this battle alone. Sad.

“There’s times when we have to come together to represent what’s in the best interests of all Canadians,” Moe said at a news conference to close out last week’s first ministers’ meeting in Ottawa.
Smith said that escalating trade hostilities would be a bad idea for overmatched Canadian negotiators, especially when there’s little Canada can credibly do to make a dent in the much larger and more diversified U.S. economy.

Liberals are in election mode. They gotta make hay before Mexico gets it ass to the White House to put forward its plan. Theyre the hold up. We got off on a $1.3B invest. Mexico is looking at $100s of billions and has far more to lose.

As for Premiers ganging up, what choice do they have with nothing but scandal in the Libs being the focus in the House in Ottawa and big exposure on US newsfeeds? Its a chance to shine and sell their wares to markets Russia lost.

Weirdly, why does it seem that Trudeau is also election mode…& not just all the wannabees that are going to jump into his old shoes or think they’re going to?

Smith said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has damaged relationships with the current administration, placing Canada in a complicated position.

“If there’s a failure of leadership, and if there’s a damage to the relationship, it’s 100 per cent at the feet of Justin Trudeau,” Smith said.

“All I can do is try to repair and build relationships that should have been repaired and built over the last four years.”

Smith said at this time it is up to the premiers who will be “consistent voices” and have longer mandates to maintain relationships until a new Prime Minister is elected in Canada.

The stupidity is as thick as the fake panic being spread.

Reality says its impossible.

Before thinking about tariffs, 27.6 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity needs to be sourced if cut off. 4.3Mbbls oil per day needs to be sourced as does 2.99 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

If cut off for just 1 day the anarchy would be overwhelming.
