Oh those funny Ruzzian propagandists make me laugh. They keep talking like Ruzzia is the only country with nukes or something. In that regard they are badly outgunned. First off, France and Britain have around 500 nukes between them. Not nearly as many as Ruzzia but enough to make a stupid move by Ruzzia very painful for Ruzzia.
The US is alleged to have around 5700 nukes. Ruzzia has, or rather had around 5500. Around 1200 of those have been decommissioned or are slated to be. The majority of the remaining warheads are still Soviet era however and its highly questionable just what condition they are in. In 2023 Ruzzia spent just $20 billion more on its entire military budget than the US spent on nuke maintenance alone.
Three quarters of Ruzzia's nukes are small yield tactical nukes while about 3/4 of American nukes are large yield strategic nukes. It's not a gamble Ruzzia can win.

On the other hand, another amusing group in Moscow held a "March on Washington" parade. Yep, they wanna send troops to the US to march on Washington D.C.
I mean assuming they can get past the most powerful navy in the world, the 1st and 2nd largest air forces in the world and a powerful army there's still around 100 million armed American civilians. So yeah, good luck with that march. They'd have a better chance slapping on some home-made wings and flying to the moon with them.
Good point. Our gun homicide rate is the terrible price we pay for being unconquerable.

Hate to be picky, but we've got about 9 times your population.

We also have a GNP of 25.6 trillion $US, about 12 times your 2.06 trillion $US.

Our national debt is about $US 36 trillion, about 24 times your $US 1.5 trillion.

Spin it however you want, but that's the reality. Nine times your population, 12 times your GNP, 24 times your debt.
I hope you are not implying that Canada is managing it's economy well.

This is true. Was it as true 10-15 years ago?

The rate of homicide regardless of method in the US is 6.3/100,000. Look at it this way. You have 9 times the Canadian population but only 3 times the homicide rate. I mean does it matter the method of murder? Dead is dead.

In a ranking of all 219 countries and territories the US ranks 58th in homicide rates. Besides it's not really the guns that make the US militarily unconquerable, it's the sheer geographical size of it. Same with Canada, Russia and China. You could conceivably occupy part(s) of those countries but a full occupation and control would be a herculean effort.
The 100 million or so gun owners in the US would just make things even more challenging for an armed invasion of the US.

Look up the difference between a homicide rate and a homicide total. Verb sap.
No need for the snark. It's obvious that a country with 350 million+ people and a 6.3/100,000 homicide rate is going to have a much greater total number of homicides than a country 1/9 it's size with a 2/100,000 rate.

Average number of firearm-related homicides in the US in a year- 50,000. Around the same number are killed every year in auto accidents but that doesn't seem to bug anyone very much.
Average number of Americans who die every year from tobacco use- 480,000. Plus an additional 19,000 from second-hand smoke.

500,000 Americans a year die from tobacco. 50,000 a year die because of guns. Just sayin'.

Man, those Ruzzians are funny little fucks. It's almost like they don't understand how war works. And I'm not talking about the propagandist idiots, I'm talking about those in the Party echelon like Medeved (or whatever), Bedpan and the funniest of them all, Peskov the clown.
They can't seem to grasp the basic concept of a defender attacking them back. They call bombing Russian military infrastructure "terrorism" while they sling drones and missiles directly at Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The best belly laugh though is when Peskov the clown insisted that Ruzzia was fighting the war abiding by all rules and laws of the UN Convention on War or whatever it's called. I almost spewed my scrambled eggs all over my monitor screen in laughter.

Recently, Ruzzia busted out their new "secret weapon". Is it a missile? A drone? A super-MLRS? Nope. It's an aircraft. A two-seat, open-cockpit single prop-driven job from which the "passenger" will sprinkle holy water over the battlefield because...well because they're fucked in the head.
They're a lot like the religious super nutters in the US who think God is only on America's side and that the US is God's country. Same thing with these Ruzzian dopes.

In related and still amusing news, little Kim Duk-Dong in the Hermit Kingdom of North Korea accused the US, ROK and Japan of forming a nuclear military organization in Asia. What does he think China, Ruzzia and himself essentially have?
Man, if he gets much fatter he's gonna be the North Korean version of Veruca Salt after she eats the blueberry candy. He's almost as wide as he is tall.

You're the one who seems to think that the U.S. having 4-5 times your gun homicide rate is no big deal.

No, not at all. We take virtually no measures whatever to license, insure, or regulate cars and drivers. It's all one big continental game of bumper cars down here. No ruels.
Average number of Americans who die every year from tobacco use- 480,000. Plus an additional 19,000 from second-hand smoke.

500,000 Americans a year die from tobacco. 50,000 a year die because of guns. Just sayin'.
Good point. We should just quit trying to stop gun homicides. No big deal.

The second hand smoke argument has been debunked .

There is an issue far far bigger than guns that is enabled by bleeding hearts. Its taking 200 lives a day and its tentacles are pulling the trigger making shit worse. Fentanyl

And yet traffic fatalities are just as high as firearm-related homicides.

Yeah. What was I thinking? The govt being complicit in the deaths of 500,000 people a year just to make some tax revenues on tobacco is nothing compared to the occasional fruit loop who goes postal.

So should government ban the farming and production of tobacco in a free country ? Should they force all smokers to quit cold turkey ? Or just those without access to a reserve ?

Oh fer fuck sakes. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of a govt that profits from the sale of tobacco that kills 500,000 Americans a year yet complains about public health and safety when it comes to firearms.
