“Social Corruption Tribunal”: 6. I just could not write the official phony name!
Premier Ford announced recently that $86 million will be spent to improve ‘Landlord and Tennant Board’. I really hope that he does not waste one cent on that dirty cesspool. It is like a noxious plant in your garden. If you trim it or use special fertilizers trying to change its characteristics you will fail and make it worse. The only way to eliminate toxicity is to yank it out by the roots and throw it away. I have the knowledge of its works from both sides of the experience; I was an owner (LANDLORD) and renter. I was a Lord and now I am a poor bustard renter. It does not matter whether you are a Bustard or a Lord if you do not have the preferred PHYSICAL attributes. For those who might ask why now; I believe Premier Ford may be the only one to clean it up. I hope he has not changed much, because that is what politics does to people. He is an intelligent man. I was impressed with his stance on the moronic stupid Carbon Tax disaster. I also have to consider that after staying in the dark for a long time any light would look very bright. After the darkest period in Ontario’s history anything is bright. A better replacement for the Tribunal would have separate small organizations with their ALL new staff (the right people for the job). These many different branches must NOT be amalgamated in one organization. Each branch be on its own and MUST answer and be accountable to an outside entity for everything; ethics and decisions. Code of ethics backed up with strong deterrents for violators; and decisions because they are not Gods. If a mistake is made (as always does) it should be corrected. I mentioned before that the idea of working independently never succeed here is why. The idea (the excuse or smoke screen) of working independently is to limit the influence of outside powers on decisions. Let us be honest, that never stopped powerful people from intervening as a matter of fact it makes it easier. Even if by a miracle it did, how many did it prevent; one or two a year? Working independently as the Tribunal, how many bad and bizarre decisions have been made? You try to prevent one bad decision by creating thousands of very bad ones. Bribing a government employee should be a serious criminal offence. Any one facilitates or participates in bribing an employee should be punished severely regardless of profession. Some individuals think they are immune because they represent a group of people (association), I think punishment should be harsher and if repeated, the organization should be outlawed. One last thought; I noticed that ALL government plans to benefit people always end up at 180º of their establishing ideas or at best deviated significantly. For those in the business of laws and regulations, including politicians should try to find a way to stop successive governments from changing the original function.
That is what I think!
