Without massive intervention, which will not happen, these two will go on to hurt many, many people.

The guys, not the dogs. The dogs need to be put down.

Maybe the guys too.

I hope they kill the pit bulls when found, and jail the owners.. at the very least.

Responsible dog ownership is what you make of it, & the dogs are a product of their environment. We have two Pitty’s & a Cat. We’ve also trained our dogs so that, when we have “invited” guests at our door, they each bring a treasure (stuffed animal, cows leg, etc…) to show off making them way less threatening & changing the dynamic, etc…

The two dogs in the video where doing what they where told to do. The two Assclowns are a totally different story. The dogs, with patience, can be rehabilitated. I’ve done it….but the two dudes? That’s for someone else to weigh & measure….

I agree, but like it or not, our societies have decided to value human life, however scummy, above animal life, however noble.

Best case (ain't gonna happen) outcome: rehabilitate the dogs and the guys.
Middle case, perhaps even achievable: put down the dogs, rehabilitate the guys.
What's actually gonna happen: put down the dogs, slap on the wrist and no change for the guys.

Over the last 1/2 century, we’ve had a lot of dogs in our family, so we’ve got experience with everything from a Pug to Rottweilers. Here’s a different tangent to this atrocity in Philadelphia.

In my experience, larger dogs are more predictable (easier to read their body language too) as they’re generally much more confident in themselves (less concerned about being accidentally harmed), and thus less likely in the right hands to be a danger to other animals, people, or themselves.

We’ve downsize dogs as they’ve aged out due to our age also, as a responsible owner you have to also be able to control your animals at all times. Unpopular as this opinion may be, the two dogs in the video did exactly what the owners in control of them asked of them. Shitty but true, and most dogs really just want to please their human companions.

Here’s a weird balance for comparison. Friends of ours got a kitten in June & brought it over to show & tell it. Our Pitty’s where curious but respectful, as that’s the environment they come from:

Beautiful dogs.. very well trained..

However the 2 that attacked the cat are not trained, and a risk to society.. and children.. they should be put down.. blame the owners..

The dogs did exactly what was asked of them to please those owners. With retraining and different patient owners, the same dogs would do what they have to in order to please the new owners.

(The current owners though, they might be human refuse and it is what it is….)

I’ve retrained a feral dog Boomer, that came from a wrecking yard in Regina and spent its first part of his life tied with an aviation cable to a boat trailer, hanging it’s shit off of wrecked cars so it didn’t have to lay in its own filth. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it, & this dog was in the top 2-3 dogs intelligence wise that I’ve ever come across. He survived by eating anything that got close to him, and he just wanted a home & to be a good boy.

He (Otis) could have also dismantled either of those Pitbulls above individually…but he just wanted a home & to be a good boy.

With proper training & guidance, he became a companion and playmate and guardian to what’s now our older grandchildren (when they where younger).
