A former People’s Party of Canada official charged with throwing gravel at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a London campaign stop says, in a video that’s gone viral, he’s been arrested in Ottawa.
Video posted on social media Thursday night shows Shane Marshall, a former riding association president for the People’s Party in Southwestern Ontario, being led away in handcuffs and placed in the back of a cruiser.
“I’m under arrest. It’s OK,” Marshall says while laughing as a group of police officers walk him toward a police SUV.
A woman’s voice can be heard urging Marshall to stay silent.
“Shane, what did they say to you? Don’t say anything and remain silent and we’ll get in touch with Bruce, OK?” the woman says.

The one-minute video, posted to Twitter by Quebec journalist Étienne Fortin-Gauthier, racked up more than 800,000 views by Friday.
Marshall’s arrest came on the same night police also arrested Freedom Convoy protest leaders Chris Barber, 46, of Saskatoon, and Tamara Lich, 49, of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and charged them with counselling to commit mischief. Barber also faces additional charges.
Nearly two dozen other protesters were arrested by Friday afternoon, as the demonstration that has clogged downtown Ottawa entered its 22nd day.
An Ottawa police spokesperson didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Marshall, 25, of St. Thomas, was charged with assault with a weapon after gravel was thrown at Trudeau while he was boarding a bus following a campaign stop outside the London Brewing Co-op on Sept. 6.

Video of the incident shows the Prime Minister turn around abruptly as he’s struck with small rocks before boarding the bus. Trudeau wasn’t injured.
Marshall, who was charged on Sept. 11, is accused of assaulting Trudeau with a “blunt object,” according to court documents.
The People’s Party of Canada turfed Marshall from his position as its Elgin-Middlesex-London riding association president after The London Free Press first connected him to a stone-throwing incident.
The Canada Anti-Hate Network said at the time it had been monitoring Marshall for more than a year after linking him to alleged white nationalist postings on social media.
Marshall is scheduled to appear next in a London court on March 23. His lawyer didn’t respond to a request for comment.

I’ve never heard of Pat King until this morning and I watched a few of the videos a few pages back and yeah he’s a complete douche bag…. But why does this have to be an either/or situation?
How is Trudeau not a racist unless someone else is? I’m not following your logic. Can they not both be racist douche bags?
Was there any hostile intent or implication that any given race (itself a term so flexible and vague as to reveal the stupidity of anybody who takes it seriously) was inherently inferior?
Here's the problem, Ron. Shrieking "racism!" at every single joke, prank, or innocuous use of a physical or cultural characteristic of a sub-group of the population dilutes and trivializes the fact that people are still being abused and murdered for the color of their skin.
And that's the point of doing it. So think about it and decide if that's something you want to participate in.
