Here’s how much the ‘Freedom Convoy’ has cost the U.S. and Canada

The bridge is North America’s busiest trade link connecting Detroit to Windsor and a vital artery for the auto industry. About 25% of the trade between the U.S. and Canada crosses this particular bridge—about $360 million in cargo daily, according to Reuters. The seven-day blockage, therefore, had wide-ranging consequences.

The auto industry alone is facing losses as high as $988 million because of the blockades, given that there’s an estimated $141.1 million worth of vehicles and auto parts flowing in and out daily, according to 2021 data from IHS Markit, a research firm.

Costs for increased daily policing in Canada’s capital have hit $800,000 a day, and Ottawa officials tell Global News that the city has spent an additional $1 million in city services as a result of the protests. (On average, the city spends about $620,000 a year on Canada Day safety and police expenses.) And those expenses will likely be ongoing until the protests disappear.

Supported by the party of law and order and financial restraint.

This was such a monumental waste of money that accomplished nothing.

Actually, to be fair it did accomplish tarnishing the flag since it's now associated with racists.

When I read that the federal government are freezing bank accounts for those who donated to the trucker’s movement, I wonder when Trudeau will start freezin bank accounts when someone donates to any party other than Liberal?

Does it? Does it really? How will the emergency measures act be applied to actual real domestic terrorism and violence? Axes and machetes instead of Hong Honk & hottubs?

As long as there is a legitimate threat, like there is now, it will be applied proportionally to that threat.

Give me an example of a legitimate threat, then an example of it being applied proportionally to that threat?

I will also provide an example and let me know how you think it should be applied to this example:
Very early Thursday, just after midnight, Coastal GasLink security called RCMP for help, reporting it was under attack by about 20 people, some wielding axes.

“In one of the most concerning acts, an attempt was made to set a vehicle on fire while workers were inside,” said the company in a statement. “The attackers also wielded axes, swinging them at vehicles and through a truck’s window. Flare guns were also fired at workers.”

Coastal GasLink said attackers used grinders to cut locks on a gate, entering an active construction site. They damaged heavy equipment and construction trailers, causing millions of dollars in damage. More precise estimates were not yet available.

The attackers also cut equipment hydraulic and fuel lines, causing dangerous leaks. The company said it was working to contain the environmental impact.

RCMP said responding officers were met with a blockade of downed trees, tar-covered stumps, boards with spikes, and fires at the forestry road’s 41 km mark. As police worked their way past the debris, people threw smoke bombs and fire-lit sticks at them. One officer was injured.

Police called Thursday’s violent incident a “troubling escalation.”

“While we respect everyone’s right to peacefully protest in Canada, we cannot tolerate this type of extreme violence and intimidation,” said Brown. Etc….

How do you think Justin and the liberals with backing from Jagmeet and the NDP are going to respond proportionally to this?

Funding from external groups that are affiliated with white supremacy and racism.

Investigating the sources of funding.
