Great another career politician , just what the world needs .
We still sometimes air the fantasy of the honest farmer or shopkeeper who runs for office to correct certain perceived problems and guide the country or state for a few years, then returns to the arms of his loving family and his hones farm or shop.

Heh-heh. Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (and only comes back once every few years to pretend he still lives in and cares about your jurisdiction).

Was always in politics.
He sold memberships for Jason Kennedy early on. Was assistant to Stockwell day. His whole life has been Reform or Alliance and then the present "conservatives" (small c). Elected in 2004.

Maybe….less the entitlement and the ethics scandals. Pierre Poilievre can come across as abrasive in a ‘cut to the chase’ sorta way, but I have yet to catch him an lie at this point, which I can’t say for Trudeau.

This is the guy Conservatives are fashioning to be PM?

He could barely intimidate Trudeau with all his stuttering and swallowing 🤦

Does he want to score extra points with the Conservative base?
It would excite the Liberal base for sure

I watched the video, and it wasn’t Poilievre looking for a lifeline (like a power outage) with respect to stuttering and wishing he was anywhere but….

Dude, your view of reality is a bit warped on this one. Poilievre was looking for answers from Trudeau as opposed to an evasive song and dance routine. Trudeau was exposed as the joke that he is and somehow you see something different??

What was your take on SNC Lavatory or the Admiral Mark Norman thing?

OTTAWA — A Quebec Conservative has quit his post as the party’s deputy leader because he says he wants to play a role in shaping who will next lead the party.

Alain Rayes says in a statement that he wishes the party to appoint a leader who presents progressive values, centre-right economics and unite the party around a common objective of replacing the Trudeau Liberals.

He says he plans to support a candidate, though doesn’t mention any by name.

But by wanting to get involved in the leadership race, Rayes says he has no other choice but to step down from his positions that included being the party’s Quebec lieutenant.

The race to replace Erin O’Toole as leader, after caucus members dumped him this week, began in earnest on Saturday when Ottawa-area MP Pierre Poilievre announced his intention to run for the party’s top spot.

The shakeup with Rayes led Bergen to appoint Luc Berthold as deputy leader and Quebec lieutenant.

In a statement Sunday, Bergen called Berthold a well-respected member of caucus and said his experience will be an asset for the Conservatives.

Bergen also thanked Rayes for his work and said she looked forward to continuing to work with him in the House of Commons to hold the Liberal government to account.

Wow!! Damn! The last round where the conservative party of Canada was electing their leader, Leslyn Lewis had the Saskatchewan wing’s endorsement.
And she has mine, Ron. Smart lady and it doesn't hurt that she is woman of color. I'd personally like to see Pierre as leader but if he is smart he will give Leslyn an important cabinet position.
