I think Canada, with its mix of free market capitalism and social programs, is basically a good system. We have just let too much control fall into the hands of the corporate sector, something that started 1970ish with the adoption of neoliberal economic policies. The system is controlled by a very few a the top of the food chain who seek only to service themselves, screw the rest. We are no longer a society of people, we are now seen as consumers. Everything is about the bottom line. Wages have been stagnant for decades, not keeping pace with the cost of living, and the environment is going to shit.
The far bigger problem is the sheer size of government, and the number of committed socialists that control it. BC has it especially bad, with a government that firmly believes in the Big Brother model, where everything is supplied by government union employees. To add insult to injury they actively try to shutter our resource industries that pay the bills. This is strange when you think about it because most of these big businesses are operated by union employees. The same group the dippers pretend to stand up for.

I haven't found numbers for Canada yet, but my nephew, who works for the Colorado government sent me a note a while back saying that the US now has more government employees than all other sectors combined. I don't know if this includes military or not.

Nah doesn't seem very good. Too much poverty, drug use, homelessness, violence, it's objectively bad. Lots of trashy people being born out of this horrible system too, as we see on these forums.

Tell me about it. There's this one commie loser that calls himself "HarperCons" who whines about violence while supporting a viciously violent ideology. Man, talk about human garbage.

About 30 million, if you include soldiers, at all levels (Federal, state, county, and city/town).

Out of 165 million in the workforce.
