WARMINGTON: Greta Thunberg adds fuel to blockade fire
How dare she.
With this country’s rail system in turmoil for two weeks, the world’s most famous climate activist has thrown her support behind the #shutdownCanada movement.
And Greta Thunberg did not stop there.
The 17-year-old Swede, who visited Canada last fall, has solicited others from around the world to join in. To her four million Twitter followers, she tweeted Tuesday: “Support the Wet’suwet’en Nation and the pipeline protests happening now in Canada!
#WetsuwenStrong.”
In her tweet she even offered a link to the “Wet’suwet’en Supporter Toolkit 2020” which encourages people to “take action, come to the land, fund raise, educate, build solidarity, pressure the government” and of course “donate.”
The link Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2019 promoted also has messaging of “revolution” and halting Canadian commerce.
“All of our supporters helped us achieve the major victory of evicting Coastal GasLink from our unceded lands. In the face of increasing RCMP threats of violence and intimidation, we asked you to keep going and you showed up,” reads a statement inside the Wet’suwet’en Supporter Toolkit.
It also states “the Wet’suwet’en have been violently invaded and ripped from our ancestral lands, sparking a revolution. Reconciliation is dead. The time is now to recognize indigenous sovereignty around the world! We are asking for folks to continue, harness the power of this catalyzing moment, create sustained action in solidarity, and #ShutDownCanada!”
Greta herself, after her meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in September, said, “He, of course, is not doing enough” to protect the environment from climate change. At that time, Trudeau agreed, saying Greta “is the voice of a generation of young people who are calling on their leaders to do more and to do better, and I’m listening.”
Interesting, since Trudeau has not been listening to court injunctions calling for the end of protests that have closed passenger and freight corridors and gas pipeline construction.
Now Greta is adding fuel to the fire.
One of the messages in the tweeted link says, “We’re seeking volunteers for the camp year-round … and “if you are indigenous and need funds to get here, please fill out the application for (a) travel grant.”
So the link in this tweet calls for the shut down of Canada, revolution, and is offering funding for it to be populated year round.
How dare she.
Remember, Greta is the same person who, about politicians who don’t do enough, said, “Put them against the wall.”
The wall she’s standing on now is with the protesters who are 500 metres from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory near Belleville and at the gas link site in B.C. At the climate march in Montreal in September, with Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde and 500,000-strong participants, she vowed, “We will not be bystanders.”
Five months later and she’s lending her power to demonstrations resulting in layoffs, ships stuck outside of port, supplies that can’t be off-loaded, and communities rationing life-sustaining supplies.
It’s not surprising, since anybody who has followed Greta’s crusade understands her opposition to fossil fuel travel and capitalism. In her famous United Nations “How Dare You” speech, in addition to talking of people “dying” in a “mass extinction” while people spin “fairy tales of eternal economic growth,” she also said young people “will not let you get away with this” and “right here, right now is where we draw the line.”
Greta has dared to draw her line by backing the Canadian blockades.

I guess no one bothered to tell the uniformed deluded and very benighted climate hysteric that by supporting the blockades she is in fact denying hundreds of FN bands the supplies and services they so desperately need. I'd mention the thousands of Canadians in the same boat but she never did and never will give a shit about them. If she DARES to come back to our country I surely hope that she will be met with a wall of pro-pipeline protestors from the FN communities supporting the lines and all other Canadians who are sick to death of being preached at by some little simpleton.

And never mind that Ford HAS NO AUTHORITY TO DEAL WITHE THE ISSUES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA THAT TRIGGERED THE NATION WIDE PROTESTS!!!!!!!!!!

Ipperwash was the result of federal LIE-beral Jean Chretien NOT RESPONDING TO LEGITIMATE NATIVE LAND CLAIMS!! During WW2 -the LIE-beral govt of Mackenzie King took over a native reserve near Ipperwash for a military training base- apparently because the terrain looked similar to where Cdns would eventually be fighting - and LIE-berals PROMISED TO GIVE THE LAND BACK -after the war - and of course FIFTY YEARS LATER - natives were still waiting - and such is the value of a LIE-beral PROMISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So as LIE-berals stone-walled - some bored and mostly unemployed natives decided to occupy the provincial park that was near the old base near Ipperwash - and the natives were likely PISSED at the Mike Harris govt anyway since he had recently LOWERED the welfare payments for ALL ontari-owe recipients and natives thus got LESS GOVT GRAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The park near Ipperwash was a very popular one and the native occupation got IMMEDIATE GOVT ATTENTION and a close guard of OPP constables!! The occupation dragged on for months - with occasional calls by Harris govt to LIE-beral prime minister Chretien and to the LIE-beral defense minister to honour the LIE-beral promises made by KING and the pleas were IGNORED- such is the value of a LIE-beral promise -even though the military base WAS NOT IN USE - LIE-berals refused to give it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The local economy was suffering as thousands of tourists who usually came to the park EVERY SUMMER - stayed away because of the occupation and eventually Harris ordered the OPP to clear the park - and because the natives had openly and repeatedly displayed their guns and indicated they would fight if cops moved in -the OPP stationed snipers at various locations -native threats were taken seriously!
As OPP moved in under cover of darkness - and the natives awoke and milled about trying to decide how best to respond - several groups of armed protestors were tracked and an OPP sniper fired at one group - and protestor Dudley George was hit and killed - and later at trial it was claimed that he was unarmed - and OPP was accused of murdering the man - even though HE WAS in the midst of an armed group that HAD A HISTORY OF BEING WILLING to shoot at cops!!!!!!!
OPP was censured and punished by the LIE-beral govt that had been elected later in Ontari-owe and which promptly launched an inquiry and imposed LEGAL CHARGES on OPP for doing its job as ordered by our elected leaders!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now we have history REPEATING ITSELF!! Ford provincial govt is facing ANOTHER NATIVE BLOCKADE that is the usual result of LIE-beral blatant HYPOCRISY and short sighted policy that ends up having far reaching and nasty consequences!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The causes of the Tyendinaga blockade ARE FAIRLY LAID AT THE FEET OF FEDERAL LIE-berals!! The SOLUTIONS TO THE BLOCKADE are also in federal LIE-beral hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
