Well here we go. I have been saying for several decades now that our military ought to be of some tangible use to someone. Why do we insist on buying and operating combat aircraft instead of utility aircraft? Why do we insist on making common everyday tasks outside of the purview of our military?
Why do we not have a Fire Fighting Command? Why is fire fighting relegated to the aid to the civil power basket of stuff we do when we have to?
We could be the best fire fighters on earth if we had the sense to do so.
It would be the single most beneficial thing our military could do.

They have the Russians covered, what we do is irrelevant to everyone but us

that translates as: we will buy billions of dollars worth of US aircraft in order to support them in a job they need no support to do.

we can still buy all our aircraft from them - it just won't be tailored towards fighting a war that will never come - it will be tailored towards responding to emergencies we are certain will occur

It's a 70/30 US cost split in the agreement, do you think the US should buy more equipment from Canada?

U.S. Air Force plane crashes in Taliban territory in Afghanistan

A U.S. military official confirmed to CBS News senior national security correspondent David Martin that an Air Force E-11 had crashed in Afghanistan. The official said the cause of the crash was still being investigated and he would not discuss the fate of the crew.
Unverified images from the crash site emerged on social media, showing the tail end of a destroyed jet bearing U.S. Air Force insignia.
The U.S. Air Force uses the E-11A, a twin-engine jet made by Bombardier, as a flying command and communications hub.
According to a 2018 article on the Air Force's website, 430th Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron flies the jet out of Kandahar Airfield equipped with a "Battlefield Airborne Communications Node" (BACN)……….More

BTW if we had an aircraft that was outfitted for fire fighting rather than for electronic intelligence gathering we would have something that was of tangible benefit

Do you think the US forces aren't buying our equipment that are worth anything? Pending on the investigation on the crash of the Canadian Bombardier this morning, do you think they are hesitant on buying more?

Why don't we commission Bombardier to build some? 2 birds with one stone meet NATO agreement with purchase of our own equipment

I guess we don't because we are trying to dig up $20 billion or so for new fighters that will never do any good for anyone anywhere at any time.
