Yep, especially for the sister, shot dead by her brother. Something like "you shouldn't have told Mom and Dad about his stash."
.....hard to imagine any of the survivor seeing any humor in these horrific events....... dark humor or whatever. losses are painful......and the call is for some semblance of good taste and tact

Mind you the tone in the nation has changed due to trickle effect from the negative top.

Our general philosophy ab out weapons is totally different from those to the south of us. Possessing weapons is not a bloody right........it is merely an option. It should never be a "right"........ We do not live in some barbaric historical era. The issue was made into a right at the beginning of the country whenit was wild, and a lot of natives were killed...... Perhaps the "right" was designed to protect the white man against the natives .....the original AMERICANS.
I was very ;saddened to hear about the events in TO......

Armenians disarmed.
http://www.historyplace.com/worldhistory/genocide/armenians.htm

As a prelude to the coming action, Turks disarmed the entire Armenian population under the pretext that the people were naturally sympathetic toward Christian Russia. Every last rifle and pistol was forcibly seized, with severe penalties for anyone who failed to turn in a weapon. Quite a few Armenian men actually purchased a weapon from local Turks or Kurds (nomadic Muslim tribesmen) at very high prices so they would have something to turn in.

How Russians lost their right to bear arms
https://www.rbth.com/history/326865-guns-rifles-russia-revolution

The Bolshevik Revolution put an end to the free circulation of guns among the general public. The leaders of the uprising knew only too well what the masses were capable of, especially if armed up to the teeth, and moved to monopolize gun ownership.
In 1918 the Bolsheviks initiated a large scale confiscation of civilian firearms, outlawing their possession and threatening up to 10 years in prison for concealing a gun.

Try something a little more recent ... like in the last 100 years.

I fully expected you to cite something like the persecution of the Huguenots or the English Civil War.

You did not disappoint.

And the genocide began...

Get outta your canned environment and get into the real world, out in the country a firearm is an essential tool to protect property and livestock.

El Paso attack: Suspect's mother 'phoned police before shooting'

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49275721?ocid=global_bbccom_email_08082019_top+news+stories

there were signs of concern in both situations...........and yet.........

If the police did not want to deal with it.......they have the responsibility to refer the call to a service that is able to do so. The police could do well with some classes on sensitivity and how to LISTEN..

Seems that both could have been prevented.......

......and so until the next mass shooting......
