We all know the Toronto Transit Commission has issues.
The TTC needs $33 billion over the next 15 years for maintenance so rush-hour delays are the exception, not the expectation. Regional fares need to be integrated so people can travel throughout the GTA without paying double. And then there’s the sardine-overcrowding and the long, frustrating waits.
(TTC has Issues??? that IS FUNNY!! And integrate Regional fares? NDPer`s say that TODAY - and then talk about charging MORE for longer trips tomorrow !!!! And is it not wildly FUNNY that the major reason for TTC now needing so much cash for maintenance is because they have done NONE for decades! Like all other Cdn infrastructure - TTC has been deliberately NEGLECTED so that civil service union Hogs could have that wonderful gravy train ride!!!!!!!!!!!!! )
Doug Ford has been scheming to rip Toronto’s subways away from the TTC – a provincial takeover and TTC breakup, leaving the rest of the TTC and the City of Toronto owning just buses and streetcars.
(And HOW is that a BAD THING? Jackass John Tory and his sad sack crew of gravy grabbers have DONE NOTHING about transit in FOUR YEARS!! Although to be fair- they HAVE STUDIED IT TO DEATH!!!!!!!!)
(The ugly reality is there would NOT be any current maintenance being done on TTC without that MAJOR funding BRIBE offered to Toronto by Our idiot Boy Justin as a thank you for staunchly supporting him!! LIE-berals offer up chump change for TTC repairs and dump major costs on the province and city for tending to the illegals!!!!!!!!!!!)
This will make things even worse for commuters.
(HOW???? Toronto Silly Hall has so abused its credit that it is now FORBIDDEN to run deficits!! And Silly Hall councillors are such bad money managers they cannot find any coherent way to build more transit within existing budgets!! If there is to be any new transit it MUST be built by other levels of govt!! As Our idiot Boy has demonstrated- TTC and Silly Hall are not even capable of doing basic maintenance on TTC facilities at this time without others PAYING FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!! )
Once Doug Ford and his developer friends get their mitts on our transit system, they can manipulate the pricing structure and charge even more to ride the subway. They can set fares independent of TTC buses and streetcars. This means higher costs and less fare integration. It could lead to a pay-by-speed or a pay-by-distance model where families priced out of our downtown core and living in the furthermost reaches of the city are saddled with higher subway fares, further squeezing the family budget. For commuters, Ford’s plan means less coordination between routes, higher costs, and even more crowding.
(OH DEAR! You mean Ford might price TTC rates to SUIT COMMUTERS? INSTEAD of compelling TTC to supply gravy for civil service union HOGS? You know the ones I mean- all those HOGS whose votes NDP wants to BUY at the expense of voters who don’t support NDP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(As for possible “pay by speed“ or “pay by distance” models- what is NEW about that idea? Toronto Silly Hall has been discussing that for YEARS!!!!!!!!!!)
Doug Ford has already handed over the keys for new stations to developers, allowing them to influence where, when and how new subway stations and train routes are built. This is a big problem because it could lead to stations at a developer’s new shopping mall jumping to the front of the queue while critical transit projects that benefit our city, like the relief line, are ignored.
(Oh yes- we are aware of the new Go station being built beside Woodbine race track! But new stops are needed as subdivisions grow and what is wrong with letting Woodbine owners build a station to serve commuters on week days and horse fans on weekends?????)
(As for the downtown relief line- it has been DEBATED by NDP critics for HOW MANY DECADES NOW?? The relief line IS DESPERATELY needed but clearly we cannot rely on Silly Hall or NDP air heads to build it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
What’s even worse is that experts describe Ford’s plan to have private developers pay for transit as far-fetched. It’s estimated that a developer would have to build eight to 13 78-storey condos to cover the $500 million cost of adding just one more subway stop to the Scarborough subway extension. That’s just not going to happen. This fanciful scheme could mean nothing will be built.
(Apparently Ms. Bell has NEVER seen before and after photos of Young St showing the influence of extending the subway from Eglinton to Steeles!! That York Mills subway station and the MULTIPLE 10 storey buildings over it are standing in the middle of what used to be a MARSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(Frankly as far as I can see the biggest beef the NDP has with Ford is that he will not suck up to civil service Hogs and will NOT be deterred by anti development NIMBY TYPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Let’s face it, Doug Ford is focused on cutting public services. If he takes the TTC’s trains, we can be certain the billions needed to maintain our TTC won’t be provided. The chronic delays, overcrowding and unexplained breakdowns show that our aging subway is already struggling to keep up with how quickly Toronto is growing. And the last time the Conservatives meddled in municipal transit they made deep cuts to operating funding, and public transit has never recovered.
(NDP REALLY NEEDS to get a new set of lies! The old ones are thoroughly dis- credited!! TTC service in unreliable because whenever there was a choice between doing maintenance - or throwing more gravy at HOGS- the gravy side WON! ALL our infrastructure is ramshackle because buying Hog votes is more important than maintenance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)!

We need to derail Doug Ford’s plan to steal Toronto’s subway. And we need to properly fund transit with the province kicking in 50% of the operating costs. No one voted for higher fares and even more crowded trains. People deserve so much better than this.

I suspect Toronto Councillor Gord Perks doesn’t feel comfortable with you owning a house or a car.
What do we learn if an elected official cannot or will not answer this simple question: Do you believe that people have the right to acquire, protect and profit from private property?
Is that a complicated question?
It is not.
Is the acquisition, protection and management of private property complicated? Yes, but the right to own it is not. You are either for it or against it.
(LIE-berals and their idiot cousins of the NDP have long championed a plan for the future of Toronto in which a million more people are crammed into the city!! LIE-beral consider that Toronto should become a city of 4-6 story buildings with citizens crammed into little concrete boxes in the sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Do you have the right to own a car? Of course. Are there laws to follow? Again, yes. But the responsibilities inherent in driving it on the roads are a separate question.
All of this is ether too complicated for Perks, or he is against your ownership of your house.
This started when NDP MPP Bhutila Karpoche was on my NEWSTALK1010 radio show and the topic came up. She would not say she believed in private property rights.
(On MULTIPLE OCCASIONS LIE-berals and Ndpers have made clear their disgust with those who live in Subdivisions and their objections ALL centre on govt gravy costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(Arranging for govt services for new subdivisions is COSTLY! All those new roads, new sewers and water pipe, the electricity service and natural gas supplies, the land line phones for old folks and the arguments over internet services between big bullies like Ma Bell and smaller companies- that must be refereed by govt agencies!! It all costs our govt money to set up!!!!!!!!!!)
(And once the new subdivision is built then it costs MORE govt gravy to maintain! Somebody has plow the snow, fix the pot holes, mow the grass in parks, trim trees that threaten power lines, supply the cops for security and the firemen for safety!! I am sure she heard some criticism so perhaps that is why she tweeted, “You can call me whatever you want. I believe in property rights, but I am more interested in HOW people put a roof over their head. We have an affordable housing crisis in Ontario where families are struggling to pay rent or save up for a home.”

OK, at least she believes in the concept and her issues are worth discussing.
(But there are other issues as well that LIE-beals find VEXING about home ownership! The home is a fine investment when things are working well- but when things go bad the home is a millstone around the neck!!!!!!!!!!)
(Consider the auto worker I knew who lived in Beaverton Ont. And all was well with him commuting into Oshawa to his good paying auto job- but then he got laid off!!!! Meaning NO more money to pay for a car! And he was working for a temporary employment agency and getting minimum wage to keep busy and earn a little extra cash- and such wages DO NOT PAY for a car or for any long distance commuting either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(So the guy quit doing that part time work because the commuting was too costly!!
He stayed close to home- doing under the table jobs when he could find them- and of course LIE-berals DO NOT collect any gravy from such jobs! But they do have to pay out welfare and unemployment insurance!! And of course he did eventually go back to work - after McGinty LIE-berals bailed out General Motors!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(And there is the POINT! LIE-berals see home ownership is an ANCHOR for laid off workers who will usually refuse to abandon the property and move some place else for work!! LIE-berals DISAPPROVE both of people who refuse to move quickly to find work AND they disapprove of people who whine about the lack of speedy and efficient public transportation!!!!!!!!)
But that prompted Perks to tweet at me, “Hey @jerryagar1010 the line between private and public is ever-evolving and conceptually slippery Under what circumstances can the police enter your home? Are your speech rights different in a private mall than on a public sidewalk? Lazy yes/no red-baiting makes us dumber.”
(Oh yes- and the line between an honest LIE-beral answer and the distractions that LIE-berals throw at us so we wont discuss their greed and bigotry are getting REALLY THIN! LIE-berals envision a Socialist economy where they have almost TOTAL CONTROL- they decide where we live and how as well!!! But LIE-berals DO NOT want any REAL RESPONSIBILITY for the lives they seek to CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Dodging, prevaricating and pretending to be too wise for the question in the first place are all methods employed by those who know that going public with a real answer might not go over well, even in liberal downtown Toronto.
(It is truly remarkable just how wide the philosophical gulf is between LIE-berals and the rest of the world!! One has only to look at the LIE-beral city plan and compare it to the average reaction of a local NIMBY group! What the city wants and what the locals want are diametrically OPPOSED!!!!!)

I am sure he is aware that saying yes to private property is a relatively benign position to take in a democratic country, but that to blurt out a “No” might solicit some blow-back; something he seems unwilling to chance.
Claiming that by bringing up the various reasons we put restrictions on how people can use property makes the question moot is like saying that since we have laws against libel, slander and incitement to violence it is too complicated – and beneath the more intelligent among us – to say we are for free speech.
(But LIE-berals have proven they disdain free speech as well! One has only to look at the LIE- beral “Islamophobia” issue that appears tailor made by our LIE-beral DICTATORS - to SILENCE any critic of any LIE-beral policy by labeling free speech as “hate crime”!!)

Perks also raised the issue of some people not being able to afford it. Afford what? Property rights are not exclusive to houses and land. A baseball glove is property.

LIE-berals clearly think that ONLY A PRIVILEGED FEW should own a car! After all- the special ones NEED to travel often to their country homes in beautiful Muskoka!! Some questions are easy to answer, even if a debatable and complicated discussion might follow. Do we need a Ted Talk, a civics class and a soothing of everyone’s feelings before we can say we think the protection of free speech is important?
There are nations where free speech and property rights are not recognized, and I would suggest that no one who voted for Perks did so believing we wanted to become like those places.
