Well, Trump does not share centre stage with anyone. Macron hosted this and did it well......with sophistication and class......... so Trump was not going to play nice. Macron might be setting himself up as a European leader now ......as the German chancellor gradually steps aside.
trump is not big on any ceremony unless he is the centre of it. He is only interested in financial deals.......He has no and chooses not to learn true intentional diplomacy. It is all about money for him. People come second....if they factor in at all.

If Trump actually followed a script.......things might be different. He wings it, ad lbs and goes off half cocked with an inappropriateness not ever seen in anyone in that job. On a superficial level it is embarrassing. On a deeper level......it is disturbing...... as the job carries so much responsibility........where the person must play many roles ......... and be knowledgeable in many areas. and just like any high stress job........ the person must be psychologically stable. The fact that psych testing is not a requirement for the job is a "crime"
