The obvious way to reduce the body count in mass shootings is to ban weapons capable of taking detachable box magazines.

The obvious way to cut gun violence by over 90% is to ban handguns.

The obvious way to get voted out of office in at least 70% of U.S. Congressional districts is to propose either of those measures.

https://sputniknews.com/us/201811031069469564-fda-approves-potent-opioid-drug-epidemic/
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday approved a powerful new opioid to use in care settings despite criticism from one of its own advisers.

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb issued a special statement on the approval of the new drug, Dsuvia, noting that its use will be strictly controlled and that the agency understands the controversy behind its decision, the Washington Post reported.
“It fills a specific and important, but limited, unmet medical need in treating our nation’s soldiers on the battlefield,” Gottlieb said, noting that the drug will be sold in the form of a 30-microgram tablet designed to be put under the tongue, making it more suitable for battlefield situations where people cannot easily inject a drug.
Gottlieb also noted that the drug will only be authorized for use by professionals in healthcare settings and possibly on battlefields, so patients will not be able to get it at a pharmacy and take it home. Dsuvia is reportedly 10 times more powerful than fentanyl and 1,000 times more powerful than morphine. It was developed by manufacturer AcelRx in cooperation with the Pentagon, which spent millions of dollars on the project.
Public Citizen, a consumer rights advocacy group, objected to Dsuvia’s approval, as did Raeford Brown, the chairman of the FDA advisory committee, who wasn’t present during the vote regarding the drug.
“It is certain that Dsuvia will worsen the opioid epidemic and kill people needlessly. It will be taken by medical personnel and others for whom it has not been prescribed. And many of those will overdose and die,” Sidney Wolfe, the founder of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group, said in a statement.

Most Of America’s Terrorists Are White, And Not Muslim

Right-wing terror is real, and it's a problem.

When it comes to domestic terrorism in America, the numbers don’t lie: Far-right extremists are behind far more plots and attacks than Islamist extremists.
There were almost twice as many terrorist incidents by right-wing extremists as by Islamist extremists in the U.S. from 2008 to 2016, according to a new report from The Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund and The Center for Investigative Reporting’s Reveal.
Looking at both plots and attacks carried out, the group tracked 201 terrorist incidents on U.S. soil from January 2008 to the end of 2016. The database shows 115 cases by right-wing extremists ― from white supremacists to militias to “sovereign citizens” ― compared to 63 cases by Islamist extremists.Incidents from left-wing extremists, which include ecoterrorists and animal rights militants, were comparatively rare, with 19 incidents.

Cool beans.

I currently own 11 guns, and I just ordered two more. They include two "semi-automatic assault weapons."

I use them for hunting, target shooting, and personal security. I have concealed carry permits.

I'm 58, never shot anybody I wasn't ordered to shoot (military background), and I keep my guns in a safe.

I also believe there is no legitimate civilian use for what you would call a "semi-automatic assault weapon," and I'd be fine with seeing them banned. I would be very happy if handguns were more tightly controlled, provided I, with my background, security clearances, profession, and criminal record (none) can get one, and a permit to carry it.

There are 400 million guns in private hands in the U.S. Our borders are porous, and the only effect banning guns would have would be to increase the street price.

I'm perfectly happy to debate any of these positions with you, and to answer any questions. You'll get no BS from me, just honest opinions, facts that are real facts, and what I consider sound reasoning.

FBI seeks info on woman identified as Democratic volunteer after Georgia voter system attacked

The identity of a person being scrutinized by the FBI after Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp launched an investigation into the state's Democratic Party over "possible cyber crimes" has been revealed.

An official from the office of Kemp, who is running as the state's Republican gubernatorial nominee, told ABC-affiliate WSB-TV on Sunday the FBI was seeking information regarding a woman named Rachel Small as part of the probe.
