I'm not totally convinced that we have enough knowledge of Cavanaugh to be able to make a valid assessment of the man. As a kid he may have been a brat but is it fair to hold that against him?

Walter is a nut. I stuck up for his hero and he drops a "red" on me. Shame on you, Walter. No more of my Cat's eye marbles for you! :)

Seriously, has there ever been a rule change that has backfired so much in the Democrat Party’s face?

The GOP and conservatives will forever be in debt to retired Democrat Sen. Harry Reid for using the nuke option when the Democrats were in power. I don’t think Gorsuch or Kavanaugh would be seated without that change.

Drain What Swamp?

“At the heart of President Trump’s political movement is this paradox: A wealthy reality television star who lived in a gold-encrusted Manhattan penthouse was able to gather a dedicated following of the less privileged and launch a war against his own social class,” the Washington Post reports.

“Brett Kavanaugh — who has lived most of his life in the Washington area, attended elite schools and worked in George W. Bush’s administration — was exactly the type of ‘political elite’ whose swamp Trump and those supporters once said they wanted to drain.”

“Yet Trump and his rally crowds are now firmly behind Kavanaugh, to the point where audiences sometimes chant “Kav-a-naugh” in addition to “Drain the swamp,” two ideas that would seem to be in forceful opposition to one another.”

MSNBC’s Michelle Goldberg explains why GOP’s blame game shows they have ‘a guilty conscience’ on Kavanaugh

.....

Goldberg then pointed out that there’s “an abuser’s logic” to the defenses of Kavanaugh by Republicans like Collins who supported him and claimed that they did so partly because they were confronted by angry protestors.

“They keep acting like, ‘oh it was protestors,’ or ‘it was incivility,’ or ‘it was Michael Avenatti,’ that made Jeff Flake or Susan Collins vote for this nominee,” she said. “They were always going to vote for this nominee. They were determined to vote for this nominee.”

Collins “wanted any excuse to get to yes,” Goldberg said.

“The very fact that they’re blaming Democrats suggests to me an element of guilty conscience—you don’t blame other people for making you do something if you think that it was a blameless thing for you to do,” she said.

Interesting perceptive. Personally........ I don't think there is ANY guilty conscience involved here. The motivation was obvious and they were determined to push through the nominee........as fast as they could. The blame game is just what the Republicans do........ If it not the democrats, it is Obama.....or Hillary....... but it is never the republicans fault ............and then they spin it into a win . The republicans have adopted the trump style and by doing so..... have lost credibility. the only thing that matters to the Trumpians is the preconception winning. They buy into any smoke and mirrors that fits their ideology. Trump knows howto play them. He is a master conman.

The deal is done. The Judge is in and now we await the drama that will come with the Mid-Term elections. All the pissing and the moaning will die down on both sides as they hit the campaign trail. American politics are endlessly fascinating, unpredictable and illuminating.

Republicans always play the "Victim Card".
Imagine the claim that the supreme court is not political but both political parties go to war in order to promote their candidate to the bench, and one who agrees with their philosophy?

I thought this was a pretty good commentary ....

The Senate is an unfixable crime against democracy
A majority of Americans do not want Brett Kavanaugh to be confirmed, yet the senators who support his confirmation do not represent most Americans. Lawrence tells us the Founding Fathers never designed the Senate to be a truly democratic institution, so Americans must "work harder" to make democracy work.

Torture & Union Busting: What MSM Won’t Say about Kavanaugh
While the media’s nonstop coverage of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has focused on sex scandals, Anya Parampil reminds viewers about the Judge’s anti-worker history and forgotten role in the Bush Administration’s illegal torture program. CIA Whistleblower, John Kiriakou, joins the show to tell us why he doesn’t believe Kavanaugh’s claim he had no knowledge of the torture program while working in the White House.

It USED to be interesting , but now it is just distasteful and ugly. the bar is so low that there is no bar anymore. It is jungle tribalism now.
