There are 44 on the city council now.

When they reduce the number of seats to 25 I guess that means they all lose their seat or district and everyone has to run for one of the new seats.

Judge rejects Ford move to cut Toronto council size.

The City of Toronto along with Toronto lawyer and council candidate Rocco Achampong have won the court battle over the redrawing of Toronto’s municipal map by Premier Doug Ford.

(No- they have only a temporary halt that will SOON be set aside!)

Superior Court Justice Edward Belobaba said Ford’s Bill 5 – which slashed Toronto city council from 47 seats down to 25 seats – was unconstitutional and struck it down, thus preserving the current 47-ward system.

The province has indicated it will appeal the decision.

(The judge offered these reasons for his decision):

“It is only when a democratically elected government has clearly crossed the line that the ‘judicial umpire’ should intervene. The Province has clearly crossed the line,” Belobaba said in a ruling released Monday morning.

(As Ford himself pointed out after the ruling: “the Ford govt was ELECTED with a healthy public mandate; but the judge is merely a LIE-beral Dalton McGinty appointee”!)

(LIE-berals insist that Ford is mistaken and the judge is NOT a McGinty Appointee- but WE KNOW that if the judge had been a Harris appointee- LIE-berals would have said so as they miss NO opportunity to hit at Harris! This means we have 3 choices for who appointed that grossly biased judge: LIE-beral David Peterson, NDP Bob Rae or LIE-beral Wynne-bag! The legal BIAS IS CLEAR and the LIE-beral FIX is in!)

“For the reasons set out below, I find that the Impugned Provisions of Bill 5 substantially interfered with both the candidate’s and the voter’s right to freedom of expression as guaranteed under section 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I further find, on the evidence before me, that these breaches cannot be saved or justified under section 1.2..

“The Impugned Provisions are unconstitutional and are set aside under s. 52 of the Constitution Act, 1982. The October 22 election shall proceed as scheduled but on the basis of 47 wards, not 25. If the Province wishes to enact another Bill 5-type law at some future date to affect future City elections, it may certainly attempt to do so. As things now stand – and until a constitutionally valid provincial law says otherwise – the City has 47 wards.”

(Cdns have heard LIE-berals speak about our Pierre Trudeau written constitution before- Justin Trudeau has told us that he had no choice under the constitution but to pay Muslim terrorist bomb maker Omar Khadr $10.5 million dollars in blood money!)

(The reaction of Cdns to the Khadr Krap is this: either Trudeau and the judge are LYING about the legal situation, or neither the judge nor Trudeau really understand the constitution; or else the constitution is badly written and therefore WRONG! WE now see the same 3 options being applied to the ruling against Ford!)

Achampong praised the ruling.

“I am delighted I can return to campaigning Eglinton Lawrence Ward 13. Judge’s found that Bill 5 province’s version of parity. They wanted to argue voter parity,” he said in an interview.

(So a guy who stands to PERSONALLY GAIN from the ruling cheers the judges choice- but how many other Cdns are grumbling at the lost $25 million in savings? LIE-berals will NOT Answer that truthfully!)

“The judge ruled that the 47 wards are a better version of voter parity and representation than Ford’s 25-seat version.”

(LIE-berals insist that reducing the size of city council will somehow damage our democracy- but cannot offer ANY COHERENT EXPLANATION OF HOW this damage will occur! The judge says it is somehow unfair to change the size of city wards- noting that currently each councillor represents roughly 66,000 people and if council is shrunk then they will be “forced” to represent 111,000 people!

And yet that average of 111,000 people IS EXACTLY same number of people represented by your member of Parliament or by your MPP at Queens Park! LIE-berals offer NO explanation of why MPP`s and MP`s can successfully represent 111,000 people and city councillors cannot!)

(The LIE-beral friendly judge has just spat upon every person who voted for Ford! The judge has just displayed a GROSS anti Conservative bias! And yet LIE-berals are still going to tell us how they are staunch defenders of democracy and fair play!!!!! What a pack of SORE LIE-beral LOSERS!!!!!!!!!)
