Turning to the private sector the right move for cannabis sales

If the gubmint controls the sales it will lose money, let the private market sell to the dope fiends.
You can bet your bottom dollar any grow op has Government insiders as being the reason they have the contracts. That is where the price is set as the stores selling it won't be making big bucks unless they are part of a chain of stores.

Fiends would seem to apply to DuPont for getting it made illegal rather that a smoker. BTW why is everybody silent on the fact that hemp is the pot crop that has unlimited value. That the Gov seems unaware of that means they should all be fired for incompetence.

Depends on the Province. Indoor pot is the most energy intensive product on the market.
Only because of the lights needed in a blacked out room, do it in a geo-thermal heated greenhouse and the costs drop to almost nothing.

The first thing you see when crossing into Washington from BC is weed stores. It used to be gas stations with milk and cheese specials.
That is better than having to go to the US to sit in a bar on Sunday. Sweetgrass, Montana has 50 bars and a population of less than 400 people.

There are places in Vermont like that, too. Around here, the entertainment is on this side of the border and they come over for a game, a show and a meal.

It was still better the way it was before because let's be honest, marijuana wasn't much of an issue because it was practically treated like it was legal by almost everyone.

Now you're going to see an increase in fines and charges related to marijuana use and until they come out withlounges specifically for marijuana you are going to have a substance more controlled than alcohol.

Maybe, that's the point ... break up the black marketeering so that you can tax the shyte out of it.

It's all about control.

Little will change-the people who say they're 'going to start smoking once it's legal' won't last long unless they buy the cheapest/weakest crap out there most weed these days is too strong for anyone over 35.

New reports saying the official date is October 17th.

Please take it in edible form or in private: I don't want to have to smell it too.

Please care for your health: my taxes pay for your irresponsible ruining of your health.

Recently stats can said the average cost of an ounce of weed in canada was $188 - which is way more than anyone gets for an ounce in BC.

These government stores are selling it for $10 a gram which is ridiculous. That's 280 an ounce

I had hoped that legalization would mean free weed for sick people who need it.

Compare gambling to tobacco. Gambling is government business and we see ads everywhere. Tobacco is private sector and man does the government enforce the laws around it. It's not good for the business and the regulator to be one and the same; it creates a conflict of interest.

I guess some people don't realize that here in Lotus Land weed has been de facto legal for several years now.
