But the transients are. So they are much needed to help balance out the salmon stocks.

Bullshit. Maybe on Tuesday you can ask your math teacher to help you with basic arithmetic. Here is the basic formula one gallon of water weighs 10 lbs. all you have to do is look up how many gallons Victoria dumps in the ocean every day and multiply it by 10 . Decide by 2000 and you will have tons.
Another day another load of bullshit.

Apparently it'll be FNs who end up killing it Cliff.

Running oil companies, pipelines, logging, trolling the seas of all its life.

What's happening Cliff? Why are they Hell bent on raping and pillaging the land?

maybe we've had this whole Keepers of the Earth thing wrong from the get-go in assuming that it referenced to hold and protect when the more accurate meaning was along the lines of acquiring, exploiting and keeping the cash.

Another day another load of bullshit.

Fish die within 20 minutes of exposure to all of the raw sewage that BC pumps into the ocean and waterways.

...... 20 minutes

The sewage from Victoria does not effect anything beyond a few feet from the outfall pipe. This has been studied and monitored by scientists from UVic and U of Washinton for decades.

The only reason a billion bucks is being spent on a treatment plant is because the whale-worshippers and other misguided do-gooders both here and in Seattle made a big fuss about it for many years. Its a billion dollar solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Victoria discharges about 130 million liters a day of screened sewage - over 99% water. That works out to about 12,800 tons a day, of which about 12,650 tons is water.

Bullshit. That is a lie propagated by the idle rich that wish to remain rich. Every logging and mining and fishing camp on the coast is forced to have better sewage treatment than Victoria has.

Thank you for that relevant and enlightening contribution. lol

Contaminated water. And a lot more to age than hoid claimed. My septic system discharges zero untreated water. By law.

That was part of the point of moving the messy part on a 'congested waterway' to some location better able to handle the demands. If you never start the program takes a lot longer that it has to. The other choice is do nothing and become a backwater slum that even the black market shuns.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals are getting TRULY DESPERATE!!!!!

Statements like: "barge the sewage out into deeper water before dumping int- without considering that prevailing winds are from the west on that coast..... and without considering what might be poisoned in the open ocean since there are critters who live out there......and Our idiot Boy wants to kill off oil use in Canada and how much extra fuel would be needed to keep the barges running.......and what would the Yankees say if Cdn sewage began washing up on the Alaskan Panhandle......and what would Yankees say if their deep water fishery was put at risk by Cdn LIE-beral slobs who are treating their sewage like something to be dumped in a back alley at night when nobody is looking?

And MHz says we should move things away from "congested waterways" such as the grossly polluted Fraser River!!!!

And I guess MHZ has NOT noticed that most of B.C. is ROCK- piled high- much of it IS NOT type A farm land!!!!

And again- what would Yankees say if Cdn slobs started dumping sewage or insecticide into rivers that run south into Yankee territory or run west into Alaskan Panhandle?

LIE-beral thinking is now so utterly muddled they are focussed ONLY on finding some new place to dump sh+t rather than cleaning it up!!!!!

So much for the vaunted LIE-beral commitment to the environment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it is further testimony of how screwed up LIE-beral policy has become that some natives are protesting the Kinder Morgan pipeline and others are investing in jobs CATERING to Pipelines!!!!!

Soon it may be illegal in LIE-beral Canada to speak harshly of pipelines because natives need them for their jobs and income??????

And is it not absurd that LIE-beral loving Cdn news media have STOPPED showing photos of native protestors encampments so as not to expose all the hypocrisy!!!!!!!

Anybody with a sense of IRONY has to LAUGH at the oil pipeline protestor camps full of gas guzzling 4 wheel drive pickup trucks and the buzzing swarms of atv`s as well!

And now Cdn news media have chosen not to show that blatant hypocrisy by the protestors!!!!!

Oh well.......nobody ever said LIE-beral policy had to make sense!!!!!!

LIE-beral policy ONLY NEEDS TO PRODUCE GRAVY FOR HOGS!!!!!!!!

You're welcome to scan this doc: https://georgiastrait.org/wp-content/uploads/MarkovicThesis.pdf

The abstract is fairly good, but a lot of detailed info throughout.

The unfortunate reality is that believing that the (negative) effects are localized to a few feet or limited distance from the outflow pipe is very short sighted.

The tides and currents will disperse these materials significant distances.

"John Werring, science policy advisor for the David Suzuki Foundation, says the Capital Regional District hasn’t adequately measured how far poop and chemicals migrate. Using a partially-treated example out of Metro Vancouver, Werring told me the stuff can go a long way. “The effluent in Vancouver washes up past Howe Sound, all the way up to the Sunshine Coast,” he says. “It’s trackable, it’s known and they’ve got maps -- the plume goes that far."|

https://www.thetyee.ca/News/2015/01/26/Victoria-Raw-Sewage-Dumping/

The above references Metro Vancouver, but the same mechanisms would be in play for the sewage released through the Victoria system.

Victoria discharges about 130 million liters a day of screened sewage - over 99% water. That works out to about 12,800 tons a day, of which about 12,650 tons is water.

The fines, small particulate and especially anything water soluble will travel all over depending on the active currents/tides and a small these materials (like heavy metals) will contaminate huge volumes of the water they are exposed to, no different than if a bbl of oil was released into those waters how it would contaminate hundreds of thousands or millions of liters of water.

Where the rift is it is a dead zone already and what is on the surface today is deep in the rock is it ever breaks the surface of the water.
The lives of a few starfish are more important than the lives of 1M of your fellow citizens?? Explains how you can murder millions over a known lie and not bat an eye, . . . sort of.

Please do carry on, this is getting interesting. Jekyll and Hyde meet Frankenstein and a new species is born.

The REALLY SAD aspect of this of this debate is that the same people who think an oil pipeline is an abomination will turn around and

IGNORE over fishing, deliberate destruction of fish spawning habitat, and then get into an airplane- the absolutely DIRTIEST WAY to

travel anyplace- to fly off to a climate change conference to discuss the destruction of the environment..........BY OTHER PEOPLE!!!!

Sewage discharge can travel a long way, but beyond 50 feet of the end of the pipe it is too diluted to cause any damage. Victoria's sewage eventually ends up out to the open sea. That is not the case for Vancouver.

So CaptainTrips would be HAPPY to tke a sip of that water 50 ft from the sewer outfall point since it is so diluted?????

I bet you could sell tickets for that SH+T SHOW!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I do recall that New York City used to barge its garbage out to sea and dump it till the sludge built up enough it started washing back ont local beaches!!!!!

When it comes to discharging sewage into the ocean its all about location and volume. Victoria is a small city in the right location. Seattle used to discharge their sewage into Lake Washington and Puget Sound - both really bad places to dump anything. Now they shake their fingers at Victoria which is in a perfect location for discharging sewage.

Any way, the science is being ignored and a $billion is being spent for nothing. Some of it is federal money, so wherever you live in Canada you are getting screwed by this.

Which is why Vancouver treats its sewage.

Yep, for some strange reason I've noticed idiots are slow learners!
no irony here
