Putin's the new leader of the Free World!

Huzzah! Huzzah!
..and Trump gave him the keys..Willingly, without duress or question.

Putin is a very happy boy right now. He owes Trump another win..and his operatives are working on that now. Just watch for the next Russian controlled US elections. The voters got conned but defend their decision because of .er pride.UNLESS.....Trump becomes a liability to Putin......then Putin will will act accordingly.

Geez..

IF they were smart they would call in a mental health team and do a comprehensive evaluation of Trumps mental state.

Some of the international reaction is about his mental state...... as his behavior is too bizarre to explain logically......rationally. The yare so busy circling their wagons........that they are missing the whole point

I just had the funniest thought.

Just visualize the Old Stock Canadians here upon hearing that Justin Trudeau sided with Putin against Canadian intelligence agencies.

“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naivete, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.

“President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

“It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout — as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.

“Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisers makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.

“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are — a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.”

I have always liked and respected John McCain.

While his politics are often misguided his personal honor and love of country are a given.

That was very well put, sir.
Indeed. On might not "agree" with every position he takes........but he has integrety, credibility and is an honorable man.

VERY BEST WISHES to him as he battles his current health challenges.

Sure as hell can't say either about Trump.

Putin wants a booming economy in the US.

The economy was booming before Trump took over. And you can't point to a single accomplishment Trump has made in regard to the economy other than a massive tax cut - when the economy was already booming - which will increase the debt by trillions of dollars.

What Putin wants is his enemies at each other's throats, and the western alliance in disarray, leaving him free to do pretty much whatever he wants. And he's getting it in spades.

excellent and spot on!!!

(and Trum p is doing the dismantling of allies and creating divisions and issues making the situation ripe for Putin.

It is embarrassing to see how badly Trump has been out "leaded" , and outmaneuvered .

We have just seen the ART of the DEAL in HI DEF.....and it ain't Trump. Meanwhile Trump has left a trail of disgust, and chaos in his path.

I don't have many kind words to say about Trump's foreign policy, but I think he is doing the right thing.

The main game should be to isolate China and thus America should be working overtime to peel Russia away from China. China is very dependent upon Russian gas and oil.

Russian Folks are European and believe in the same God and not Buddhists.

I think you might want to rethink your opinion of China. Currently the country is in the top 3 US trading partners. Russia ranks 30th. Also the Chinese have not openly threatened the West - Remember Putin's recent nuclear weapons boast? And there is no need to "peel" Russia away from China; the two nations are not on particularly close terms.

And what has religion got to do with anything? Nazi Germany was Christian and was not particularly friendly. And the Russia Orthodox Church is one of the least open-minded on the planet. Buddhists BTW espouse non-violence.

What did Trump give Putin?

Let's start with phucking up NATO. Then there is the refusal of Trump to enact the sanctions the US Congress has voted to impose on Russia. And finally, there Trump has made no effort of condemn Russia over Ukraine or its clear interference in the US election. In pretty much any other Western democracy if a political leader did that they would have been removed from office long ago.
