Foreign oil gets free ride from feds

New documents obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation show the federal government requires Canadian oil to meet a higher environmental standard than oil that is imported into Canada.
How absurd is that? By putting up a big roadblock in front of Canadian oil companies, the federal government has lost out on billions of tax dollars, killed thousands of jobs and hurt businesses across Canada that sell goods and services to Canada’s energy sector.
(This LIE-beral hypocrisy is all part of the legacy of our vile former P.M. Pierre Trudeau- the legacy that his son- the idiot Boy Justin is trying to add to! The Trudeau clan are all anti western and anti white and anti Yankee- with Papa Pierre going so far as to tell us “the war against Nazi Germany is British Imperialism”! Pierre also wrote a book about his travels in China and in it, he heaped fawning praise on Chinese Chairman Mao “for his genius in rushing 30 million Chinese to the gallows” during the Great Leap forward economic plan! And idiot son Justin has told us that “he likes the way Chinese Communist leaders get things done”! And both idiot Boy Justin and brother Sacha have spoken warmly of their long time friendship with murderous Cuban dictator Castro!)
(The Trudeau`s are NOT friends of democracy or capitalism! The Trudeau`s would rather deal with vile socialist fellow travellers in Venezuela than allow capitalist Cdns in Alberta to earn a penny! This policy was set by Pierre Trudeau- who told us that he wanted to “destroy Cdn Imperialism” which apparently involves damaging our relations with United States and Great Britain and setting up a LIE-beral dominated immigration system to ensure that only people who hate western values- meaning generally LIE-berals consider people from third world countries carrying a chip on their shoulder against white people to be SUPERIOR to other immigrants- with NO LIE-beral consideration of language skill or education being considered! All that matters is hatred of western capitalist values and a willingness to vote LIE-beral in all elections!)
Recall that Canadian pipeline company TransCanada wanted to build a pipeline from western Canada to eastern Canada.
The project would have offset some of the 600,000 barrels of oil that eastern Canada imports each day from foreign countries.
(Yes- 600,000 barrels of foreign oil produced under LESS stringent pollution regulations than are used in Canada! For Our idiot Boy Justin- the call of socialist fellow travellers- even foreign ones- is LOUDER than the needs of CANADIANS in places like Alberta- where they DO NOT VOTE LIE-BERAL! And Our idiot Boy is even prepared to ignore less rigorous foreign environmental regulations as well- socialist birds flock together- at our expense!)
The project would have also contributed billions in tax dollars — not just to the Alberta government, but the federal government as well.
(Yes Our idiot Boy is so DRIVEN by his twisted and poisoned drive to destroy “Cdn Imperialism that he is willing to write off BILLIONS in tax dollars- just to spite anti LIE-beral Alberta!)
The latter could have used the money to pay for health care and other services across Canada.
(But Our idiot Boy sticks with his Venezuelan socialist pals and their oil instead!)
Instead, the project ran into a federal government barrier.
After TransCanada spent over $1 billion on planning the project and trying to secure approval from the federal government, the Trudeau government changed the approval process.
(LIE-berals recognize that the LEAST CONTROVERSIAL way to destroy a thing is by neglect! So LIE-berals tell us most sincerely that they are committed to pipelines and then put so many conditions in the way that business gives up! AS the TransCanada people have abandoned Energy East and as Kinder Morgan has all but abandoned their western pipe line- AFTER spending $3.7 billion dollars on it! And Kinder Morgan is now facing a series of political and environmental hurdles- including A GENDER RELATED ASSESSMENT of the value of their pipeline and who knew oil had a gender?)
(The worst of these newly imposed hurdles is that they CANNOT be completed before the next federal election- with any work done WASTED and forgotten when the govt dissolves and goes to the polls! Stall and delay till business gives up is the LIE-beral order of the day- with Shell Oil suddenly SELLING OFF all but 10 percent of its huge holdings in Alberta- no pipeline means NO exports and that means Alberta oil is WORTHLESS! And that suits LIE-berals just fine since they have repeatedly told us they want to shut down the ENTIRE Cdn oil patch! Looks like they are off to a good start!)
Suddenly the feds thought the project should also go through an “upstream and downstream” emissions review.
In other words, the federal government wanted to look at emissions during the production of the oil and when it is used in cars, trucks and other end-use purposes.
(But of course there is NO NEED to test Venezuelan oil that way!)
With that in mind, we asked the federal government if foreign oil would be subject to the same type of review. If Ottawa is concerned about emissions from Canadian oil then surely it would also be concerned about emissions from oil that is imported to Canada … right?
Incredibly, the federal government’s Environment and Climate Change department responded to our Access to Information request by indicating that they conducted a “thorough search” for such an emissions review for foreign oil but didn’t find anything.
We also asked Natural Resources Canada, the Department of Global Affairs and Transport Canada for the same information.
They too informed us they had no such reports. Thus, Ottawa requires Canadian oil to meet a higher standard than oil that is imported to Canada from the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Algeria and other countries.
Now consider how Canada’s situation compares with what’s happening south of the border. Last June, U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, said: “An energy dominant America means self-reliant.
It means a secure nation, free from the geopolitical turmoil of other nations who seek to use energy as an economic weapon.
An energy dominant America will export to markets around the world, increasing our global leadership and our influence.”
If you think that bold position is too aggressive for Canada, consider an environmental benefit of energy independence.
The Canadian Energy Research Institute calculated that if Canada replaced foreign oil imports with Canadian oil, carbon dioxide emissions would decrease 6.2%.
This makes sense. Of course it’s more environmentally friendly to send oil from Alberta to Ontario than it is to import it all the way from Algeria.
(The Distance that oil must be shipped CLEARLY HAS an influence on its carbon foot print and Alberta oil IS our closest major supply!)
(One must also ask WHY LIE-berals are so determined to push their electric vehicles on us? It looks to me that LIE-berals see HUGE opportunity with those electric TOY vehicles in spite of the fact that their electric toys have limited cargo capacity, no towing capacity, with modest range that drops drastically in temperatures below 5 celsius, and they cost 50 percent MORE than gas cars- even AFTER the huge govt subsidies- that WE pay for- are added in!)
(LIE-berals want to destroy the oil industry and as always- neglect is a weapon in LIE-beral hands! They see nothing wrong with making it so difficult and costly for us to drive that we will give it up! Less drivers on roads means MORE GRAVY for LIE-berals and their Hog allies as they save on road repairs! LIE-berals want to turn our roads into Soviet style freeways- with govt vehicles speeding along- delivering the elites quickly and efficiently to their destinations while the peasants stand in cold and rain waiting for already overloaded busses- and does that not sound rather like a typical day on TTC?)
(With the added TTC issue that TTC DOES NOT have any plan B for when their aging gear breaks down! TTC is becoming notorious for taking passengers some place and then dumping them there for hours as the equipment fails! And our ever greedy LIE-berals have their plans bass ackwards as usual- it would be easier to lure people out of cars IF LIE-berals first built some more transit! More transit means less bullying needed and more people WILLING to put away the cars- but LIE-berals cannot build transit as we are stony broke and LIE-berals need ALL the money for their gravy hungry Hog allies!)
(LIE-berals have set up a lose/lose/lose situation- they claim their carbon tax is needed to save the environment- even though their carbon crap only cleans cash from wallets. They are forcing us to buy foreign oil produced under less rigorous laws than Canada. And just for SPITE- LIE-berals are SCREWING Alberta economy because western Cdns do not like LIE-berals! Congratulations to LIE-berals for becoming the party of spiteful and irrational Hogs being busy working against Canada!)
