That’s each way

I see you got the winter special rate. In summer we left foreigners leave for free.

It's sure nice, there but the lack of sunshine must be depressing, sometimes.

Don't have to shovel rain.

One thing about getting off the boat, it reminded me of Ottawa.. the houses, just the layout of the land.. clean, upper middle class.

I assume you are talking about Sidney. Actually as cities go Victoria isn't bad yet. Starting to get crowded with rich retirees from the flatlands and not much planning went into infrastructure prior to developement. OK no planning at all. Traffic is like the budget. It will take care of its self.

Re: Tsawwassen, BC

Yeah I was wondering why they can build a bridge to PEI and not Vancouver Island..

Then again look at their Highway #1 Trans Canada.. what a joke

BC infrastructure is almost 3rd world in places.. sorta like the rest of the world doesn’t exists outside the Lower Mainland
First of all Vancouver/Swartz Bay is over 50 km. Secondly the mean depth of the strait is over 500 feet - it actually gets down to 1,400 in spots. If you fall in that water in the middle of summer you will die of hypothermia.

The Confederation bridge is 13 km long and the deepest water there is 200 feet - most of it is about 50 feet.

They just pass the cost on the folks living on the island..

The cost for living in paradise..
No most trucking companies send their loads over on the truck ferry ( Barge ) and pay half as much .

Will you die of hypothermia if you fall into the Atlantic Ocean ?

A floating bridge.

Sounds ingenious.

It's been done and if you really did live in BC you'd know where.

The Okanagan Lake Bridge was a three-lane, 650-metre long floating bridge in British Columbia, Canada. It crossed Okanagan Lake, connecting the Westside area to Kelowna on the lake's eastern side. Wikipedia
Total length:
650 m
Opened:
July 19, 1958
Location:
Kelowna

There are plenty of toasty warm coves where the water is as warmer than lakes like Pitt or Allouette.

It's 20 km to the island and Victoria is a far distance south

If you really lived in BC you'd know that.

Atlantic Ocean is warmer. For any given latitude, the Atlantic Ocean has proved to be about 16 degrees F (9 degrees C) warmer than the Pacific Ocean off the U.S. coast – quite a difference.
