I watched the clip of said discussion and despite the total meltdown Meg almost had (tears, shaky voice and all), here's what I took it to mean:

The US USED to be well liked at least. It lost some of that under Bush but regained some of it under Obama. Now, under Trump, the US is more a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

You have to be careful what you believe! A lot of it (possibly most) is based on emotions more than facts. Trump has pissed off a lot of people but maybe the "right" people!
