This was one of the rejected songs from The Beatles Decca audition in 1962. Paul said that they wanted to record a song from their parent's era. A dance song, Besame Mucho, was written by a Mexican composer, Consuelo Velázquez. Decca declined to record it.

Definitely a Latin rhythm sound, from the first half of the 20th century. I prefer the Beatles cover to the original.

Maybe we could turn this thread into a Beatles musical montage.

I always loved this simple yet beautiful little number. It's a cover of a song they recorded in 1962.

I remember singing Yellow Submarine a lot when I was little, not realising it was The Beatles. It was like a nursery rhyme to me. I learnt it in school. It was turned into a children's song.

I didn't know that the Beatles did "Mambo".

Yes, but like most of their music, it needed work. That's why Decca rejected their original recording.
