I remember some fervent NDP kooks that I knew back in the 80's who were going on and on about the fleet of "Dreadnoughts" that we were supposedly producing so that we could be imperials pig-dogs, too. They were referring to our CPFs.... Dreadnoughts... yeah, right. That was around the same time that Svend Robinson declared that Maritime Command was trying to buy a fleet of ATTACK helicopters, presumably so that we could sail all over the world attacking everybody that we could.

Now, if we DID have battleships, no pub or bar along the coast of Europe would be safe from our sailors.

No, the design was changed to make new ships less flammable. The problem with the ships the Brits used in the Falklands War was that their superstructures were mostly aluminum the make them lighter. Problem was it did not resist fire as well as steel. Mind you anyone who has left an aluminum pot on the stove for too long could have told the navy that.

Imagine being part of a firefighting crew that is fighting an aluminum fire. It would be like trying to put out the sun.

They don't use steel upper works on warships anymore as the extra weight aloft raises the center of moment in the ship making it less stable as weapons platform, prone to capsize and generally into a vomit comet.

I'm happy to see you're willing to donate to the UK Aircraft-Carrier Fund (UKACF). Do you get a charity tax credit for that at the end of the year when you do fill in your tax forms?

Each of the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers cost £3 billion. Another ten of them, at the same price, would cost a mere £30 billion. Health spending in England alone costs nearly £124 billion a year.

Yes, but health care is something people need and want. Massive aircraft carriers are not. Just as an aside, who is Britain building the carriers to defend against? Argentina again? A single submarine would do that.

And strong military forces are something people need and want.

Who knows what threats we will face in the coming years? Things seem to be hotting up in North Korea, and there could be a threat ten years from now which we just aren't envisaging yet. You don't just build warships and have a navy just when you see a definite threat, just as we don't recruit new soldiers just when we see a definite threat. A strong military is vital to protect a country from any threat which may one day arise.

The British cost the world millions of dead. You were too weak and stupid to deal with continental Europe. You couldn't survive on your own against the Germans without massive amounts of food, weapons, equipment and money. The Commonwealth, the US and even Europeans had to teach your military how to fight. You weren't capable of doing it on your own.

The British are incredibly stupid. Your arrogance being a prime example.

When the Muzzies take over the UK, we won't be helping this time. Your stupidity being the example.

World War II wasn't Britain's fault. It was Germany's.

As for food and equipment, Britain was producing plenty of food on her own and outproduced the Germans in military production. Britain was a superpower in 1940 militarily, imperially and industrially and got those planes off the production line at a much faster rate than the Germans did during the Battle of Britain.

Are those the lies you are telling the children? Those planes, the food and the machinery used were supplied to you by other countries. You had nothing. The materials like steel, rubber, wood, etc. came from overseas. The UK was a wreck. The Germans did not have anyone to help them.

You still have no navy. Your army is the worst in Europe. The Hungarians have a better standing force. Many of us are enjoying your rapid decline. It's great fun to watch. You aren't even able to feed yourselves. The EU will be sending relief. Just like WWI and WWII all over again.

The new British fleet.

Lie to us some more and tell everyone how great you are. There is one thing that you are good at. Birthing immigrant babies.

Sure, just Poland, France, Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece,
Ukraine, the Balts.
Sweden for iron ore and the Swiss to run the money.
All that food and materiel, just had to go get it.

The Germans had to take it. The Brits were too weak to stand alone and had to be saved by the free world.

Food exports to Britain during WWII were not any higher than they were before it.
