Whining? Utter nonsense. Some of these "temporary" foreign workers have been in the country for almost a decade despite being originally contracted for only four years, and are still denied landed immigrant status. It seems to me that if you have proved that you can live and work in Canada you should be granted landed immigrant status; not shipped home when your employer has no more use for you.
