The trickiest part is the necessity of a reasonably advanced grasp of modern history, current affairs and the English language to communicate them. I get the impression that Spicer isn't that well educated. Maybe, it was the stress of having to constantly compose porkies on the fly that made him so mealy mouthed.

His words and behavior is exactly what Trump wants. He does not want anyone that remotely questions anything Trump says or does........let alone offers criticism. He wants nothing but compliments and praise in some pathological love in .He does not want independent thinkers. that add new ideas to the group. It is HIS way or no way........as we have seen for six months.
