We reproduce Germany's and Japan's post-war economic miracles. Out with the old, in with the new.

Yeah, but they lost to benign democracies who decided that, in order to build a healthier world, they should nurture their enemies back to health. This is practically unprecedented in human history. The usual way to approach surrender is to kill all of your enemy's men, sell the young children into lifelong slavery and rape and enslave all of the women. This is actually normal human behaviour.

Do NOT go to war unless there is no other choice. You might lead your people into total destruction.

...and for gawd sake, don't lose! Someday we will.

Those guys didn't have a problem telling their wives to get back in the kitchen and to STFU

I never saw that happen in my family. I don't remember my neighbour fathers being like that, either.

My mother had a Bachelor of Commerce degree. My neighbours were all educated, ... wives too.

The condition is most accute in the decadent west and a well understood and studied symtom of advanced imperial decadence. It isn't a new phenomenum, it is what the end feels and looks like.

How about Queerbek?

I've lived decades in Montreal and decades in the GTA and Toronto is by far, "gayer" than Montreal ever was. The Quebecois attitude to homosexuality is rather less forgiving than that of the Anglos.

The trick is not to start a war. But end it. Without being destroyed while everyone else is devastated

That's a harder and harder trick to pull off. Our spoiled milquetoasts would be cut down like grass by a determined enemy.

Rich divercity = fractured/splintered decadent culture at internal war with itself moving forward for sure but on a declining plane toward a fatal plunge into anarchy. It's called imperial decline through decadence and is not in any way shape or form a mystery. It's nature at work. Get used to the decline part. Cheerfull stuff eh.

So let's start a war with a benign democracy then. How about the UK?

Perhaps the anonymity of Social Media like Twitter has just made it easier to be a condescending, pointy-finger hypocrite. Building yourself up by knocking down others. The rush of getting your 'I'm hurt and disgusted by you' Tweet broadcast on the CBC... etc.

Perhaps I've become that old guy shaking his fist and yelling, "Kids these days!!"

Just need to get the addition of "Get off my lawn", and you are ready to go.

They never had a war or hard times. The last real recession was in the 80s. Most of them never had chores growing up either. WHich probably explains why they can't grow up. Also most of their teachers are the socialists from previous generations that do nothing but whine and bitch about how hard their lot is. Not exactly role models.

Hard times create strong men,
Strong men create good times,
Good times create weak men,
Weak men create hard times.

We have had it too good for too long.

Well said!

Hmmm...how about this? The road from adversity to love...

Adversity creates character
Character creates humility
Humility creates empathy
Empathy creates understanding
Understanding creates love

I'm convinced the adversity I've faced with my schizophrenic affliction has knocked me down a few rungs...humbled me...and has made me a better person because of it.

Uh, those miracles wouldn't have occurred without Britain forgiving Germany's war debt and the US rebuilding both West Germany and Japan. And don't forget, East Germany had nothing like a post-war economic miracle until after reunification.

The best comparison between Montreal and Toronto was from a comedian. Imagine the two cities as twin brothers, except one is a womanizing partier while the other is an accountant with a stick up its ass.

Actually the UK was not a recipient of reparations after World War II. Perhaps you are thinking of World War I.

The dynamics of life are surprising @ times. Nature works in mysterious ways.
So bring in lots of Muslims.

It is kinda funny hearing all you old people universally condemn every member of a generation that includes soldiers on their fourth tour in Afghanistan.

If only violence and poverty produce good character, shouldn't y'all be welcoming Syrian refugees?

It is pretty damn funny to hear people who have only ever known peace, safety, and prosperity laud the virtues of war, danger, and poverty.
