Gunman fires on Alexandria park during GOP baseball practice; lawmaker Scalise among wounded

By Peter Hermann, Paul Kane and Amber Phillips June 14 at 9:04 AM
A gunman opened fire Wednesday morning on a baseball practice at a park in Alexandria involving Republican members of Congress, injuring several people including at least one lawmaker, Steve Scalise, the majority whip, according to police and a congressman.
Alexandria police would confirm only that a shooting at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park had occurred and that one person was in custody.
Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.), in an interview with The Washington Post, confirmed early details. King said Capitol Police confirmed the account to him.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told The Post that Capitol Police officers walked into the congressional gym around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and told members about the shooting and said Scalise had been shot.
Scalise, from Louisiana, is the third-highest ranking House Republican and has a round-the-clock Capitol Police detail.

Geez... I was just going back and forth with you. And you titled the thread Special Snowflakes Getting Real... if that isn't partisanship than what is?

Anyhow... we'll have to wait and see what the motive was.

Shooter identified by law enforcement officials as James T. Hodgkinson

The shooter at the GOP congressional baseball practice this morning is James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., according to law enforcement officials. Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business. His home inspection license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed, state records show.

Hodgkinson was charged in April 2006 with battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle, according to online records in St. Clair County, Illinois. The charges were dismissed, records show.
