..and I think there is some merit to the idea that to protect the petro dollar, trump has caved somewhat to the sauds - US first.
Which is really why they also hate Iran, who will trade oil in other currencies:

It's a shame watching the US move backwards so quick!y. The rest of the Industrial world has passed them by in so many way ...healthcare is a glaring example of how they can't keep up. Now, they are moving backwards on almost all fronts. The US as a superpower is coming to an end, crazy military spending not withstanding. There won't be much left that's worth defending.
More succinctly still, uses the savings to finance tax cuts mainly for the wealthiest Americans. Three quarters of the taxes saved would go to the top 1% of income earners.
According to the parliamentary budget officer in a report you can easily google, Harper's tax changes succeeded in stopping income inequality from growing and then rolled it back. Maybe you should watch your cliche's.
