The Trudeau government are quite silent on the Russian build up in the Arctic.
Years ago many Canadians played down the Russians placing a flag on the Arctic floor. Now they have a new Russian base in their backyard.

So we should turn a blind eye like they are with China? or should we be like China and show that we belong there, and have a larger stake in the inevitable negotiations over land/resource disputes in the North.
Beside the point when a U.N. hearing is convened you want to negotiate from a position of strength not from a position of I really would like it please.

I hate to tell him but I've been having one of those annoyingly boring days in the shop ... a pair of fenders, a tank and eight coats of clear. Last takes forever to cure. I can't risk kicking up dust ... so I'm trading barbs with the Bird. Wonder what he'd think to know he's a little more entertaining than watching paint dry ;-)
The Russians are masters of twisting, turning around, otherwise obfuscating information. They can make themselves appear to be invincible, even though they're dirt poor and broke. The average Russian produces about 1/4 of the GDP than an average Canadian generates. They are quite incompetent, in some ways.
