It's a con game the US plays every now and then. The last time the Yanks pulled this scam they allowed raw timber into the US for US mills to process, but tried to restrict lumber milled in Canada. The main excuse for this seems to be that Canada has so many more trees than the US that Canada can produce lumber products more cheaply, therefore that is unfair to American lumber producers. That is the equivalent of Canada blaming the US for producing orange juice more cheaply than Canada. The Yanks have done this every time Canada produces a product more efficiently than the the US. The Yanks are great at talking free enterprise, but they rarely practice it.
Sinister,
So why don't you do the lumbar industry in Canada (in stead of exporting it to the US who need it very much in fact), and then you export the products to the vast world at better price and gain?
... although this may only be theoretical not practical.

Not only is it not practical it's downright stupid! But you were were asking the right person with regards to your stupid question.
Here's an idea. How 'bout you and your DAESH buddies go get killed by some pigs?Sure, sure it is so obvious from your feathers. :laughing6:
Hey at least we're paying attention to you, unlike the rest of the world.
*snicker*
It is the correct thing which your brilliancy cannot comprehend .. and you should know that the US has a large amount of lumber in Alaska. But they may need to bring it via Canada .. it may be easier than the way of the sea.
Or wait .. because you claim a US citizen .. Canada should occupy some of the northern states of the US in addition to Alaska .. this is the geography of land .. the topography.
Alaska is sitting there away from the US; it is nearer to Canada in fact.

I think in 250 years Alaska and Greenland will be part of Canada, the border will have moved from the 49th to the 45th parallel. And i think the United States will have expanded south to the Isthmus of Panama. That'll really make us the true north, strong and free. But that won't happen in our or our grandchildrens life time.

Here is an interesting prediction ...
Canadian dollar could drop to 65 cents US in 2017, Macquarie forecasts
And a lower dollar will give us an even bigger trade advantage with the US. No doubt the Yanks will accuse Canada of currency manipulation.

Good. War is no fun. Just ask anybody who's actually been in one.Keep it up. The next time the US wants to justify a war by getting Canada to join in you can whistle in the wind.
Well you have to admit the Boer War was before his time .Good. War is no fun. Just ask anybody who's actually been in one.
You do understand that, historically, you've been in foreign wars in which Canada had no interest other than a truly stomach-turning devotion to the Shiny Hat of England long before the U.S. jumped in, right? Or is your blind hatred enough to blind you to that obvious fact?
