mentalfloss has posted so many 'assassination threads', I'm surprised the FBI isn't all over this forum.

The same pressures are wearing away in Canada. I"m a Conservative but a Centerist and I've been asked on here how I could possibly be a "real" conservative if I don't buy the whole Neocon agenda without question. I'm a fiscal conservative, I don't like the Liberal tendency to enact "behavior modification" legislation but I believe in our being a safe haven for those who are honestly seeking refuge. That last part makes me a "libtard", according to the knuckle-walkers on here.

I used to consider myself a big 'C' conservative, CC - not any more. I find I have drifted much more towards the center - I'm more of a moderate conservative now.

Canada is drifting toward a two party system, I believe. Unless, the NDP who have seen the Liberals appropriate the ground they once owned, somehow reinvent themselves and come up with a platform of ideas that will capture voter's attention. Otherwise, they might as well, as they have often considered doing in the past, join the Liberals.

Watching what is happening with the 2-party system of our neighbors to the south, I would be very concerned to see Canada follow suit.

I fully support our immigration program, CC.......but I do not support safe haven. I believe people crossing our borders illegally should be turned over to the RCMP who will escort them back to a proper border crossing and hand them over to US Border Security. I feel this way because we have long lists of legitimate refugee applicants who have faced long waits, mountains of paper work and appearances before different boards all in the hope that they can find a safe haven in our country. Allowing anyone illegally crossing our border a hearing does nothing but further burden the system and push back waiting times for legitimate applicants.

I find you can't have an intelligent discussion with the fringe elements of either side of the political spectrum, Ludlow. Both are totally entrenched in their given ideologies and completely unwilling to listen to another point of view. We need more centrist voices able to appeal to the less completely smitten on both sides.

Smerconish addressed the divide in American politics last night and what I found interesting were the stats he put up showing how Reps and Dems voted in the past compared to how the votes fall today. Where once Dems and Reps were able to find compromise on many issues, it is all but given that today, they will find none. Back in Regan's day, 60% of the Senate Republicans were moderates - today, none.
I liked Reagan Mowich. Probably because of his pleasant disposition and also, his stature commanded respect. Yeah I liked Ronnie.

In my own background are four sets of refugees and I honour their memory. Canada is capable of taking in SOME of these people, not a whole planet's worth but anyone desperate enough to risk life and limb walking across the border in the dead of winter doesn't deserve to be sent straight back. Proper vetting of thee people is the responsible course ... of course.

A strong America benefits everyone. It's coming...slowly but surely.

A strong America does indeed benefit everyone, HH but that is far from what the world is seeing right now. They see a country where anyone with a moderate or centrist voice has no forum in which to express it. They see an administration rife with inner turmoil. Nominees refusing to stand. Purges of the inner circle. A NSA lacking it's leader and a President who needs to be sent out of Washington to cool down and spend time regaining the campaign spirit - even though he hasn't even been in office for 100 days yet. World leaders are justly nervous about Trump. The world is justly nervous about him. He's like a living example of a land mine - one wrong step and.............Kaboom.

That is not the picture of a strong America by any way, shape or means.

Our immigration boards are overburdened as is, CC...........what do we say to those in the system who have to wait longer for their applications to be taken up? The illegals get a hearing ASAP. I understand and respect your stand on the matter, CC - I think we will have to agree to disagree on this. NHNF

Yes, queue jumping shouldn't be rewarded. I agree with that. We do have room, though, for some compassion to the desparate. We're Canadians, after all and compassion is one of our most positive cultural assets.

America is Larry Robinson...

Don Cherry used to say when you played against Larry Robinson you just left him alone. Be friendly to him during the whistles...ask him about the wife and kids, etc...keep him dopey.

Don't ever hit him or wake him up because he'll destroy you and you'll lose the game.

America has woken up. Donald Trump ftw!

The Left still can't figure out how Trump became President. And when the Left gets confused and doesn't understand something, they riot and name-call.

Haters gonna hate...builders gonna build.

It's easy to see why Trump was elected.
Sadly he is the name caller and not building sh1t .
