The real question is why would anyone not support Hillary?

She has good policy and she's a good role model.

You contrast that with her opponent, Hitler, and the choice is pretty obvious.
We will see , do you think she is as good a role model as say Martha Stewart ?

I believe poor Martha spent time in jail , perhaps miss Hillary will have the same pleasure .

Again, I'm mystified. Why do you care whether a government official in another country accused of highly technical violations with no evidence that they did any harm goes to jail or not?

I remember, vaguely, the Senator Duffy flap on this board. Was never sure exactly what it was all about, because I didn't care enough to look into it.

Ah, well, as the old saying goes, the servants are endlessly fascinated by the petty doings of the masters, and the masters are unaware of the petty doings of the servants.

Not to imply y'all are servants, mind. Clients is more accurate.

Can't recall just how much time Martha spent in the slammer! Was it about 5 months? If so, pro rated, Hillary should do about 75 years, oops hold it, I don't think she can! :)

Still trying to figure out why you want this. Seeing as how you claim you don't hate Clinton, but you want to see her in jail for a technical violation of classification laws that nobody is even claiming led to any damage to national security.

If I leave my house for a week and don't lock the doors, can you quantify the odds of my coming back with nothing missing?

Then it's not a utilitarian outcome.
Don't be silly. "The greatest good for the greatest number" can often mean trampling on the rights of a small number.

Don't get me wrong, I think utilitarianism is a useful philosophy. But it needs to be tempered by a recognition of the value, and rights, of the individual. As John Stuart Mill said, "If all the world were of one opinion, and one man of the contrary opinion, he has the same right to his opinion as the rest."

I hear you Bones! The more I hear that "fish wife" voice the closer my sentiment is getting to "hate". I didn't start out hating her..............contempt might be a better word or disdain, lack of trust......................take your pick. :)

Best case scenario for the US, Hillary Clinton wins, has to resign for one or more of her many dubious shenanigans, then Tim Kaine becomes president.

Let's go with misogyny.

That's because simply having a contrary opinion does not typically cause any harm and therefore it can be afforded to give everyone equal opportunity for same.

Similarly, utilitarianism favours upholding equal rights and freedoms for all because that leads to long term societal benefits.

And you want her to spend the rest of her life in prison. Are you a naturally hateful person?

I mean, there's plenty of folk I don't care for, and a good number I actively dislike, and even some whose existence annoys me. But I don't wish 'em no harm.

Can you demonstrate that?

No, of course you can't. You're just twisting utilitarianism.

I've had this argument before. Pretty clear it ain't gonna be no better this time, so I'm out.

Nope just using Martha's sentence as a guide and extrapolating from there. I personally just wish she'd f**k off and shut up. :) :) Although not my nature I CAN be hateful......................Vader, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Speck, Kansas City Dennis, Charley Manson.

Old man, you ain't just hateful, you've lost touch with reality.

Who's the Utilitarian candidate this year? Jill Stein?

I would say Clinton.

Jill Stein doesn't appear to have much of a plan for the economy and Clinton's is getting praise from most economists.

Of course, if you ask Trump supporters, those economists are elitists working for the Clinton establishment.

Capital U Utilitarian. Obviously Jill Stein is not the utilitarian choice because she has no chance of winning. But if utilitarians had a political party, they might choose this kind of slogan:

I would love to vote for a Utilitarian party. I think we've had them in Canada before, but the problem with a utilitarian party is that, unless it's viable, no utilitarian would vote for it.
