I think the point is it's just a little ludicrous to expect a black person to have any respect for a song written by a racist slave owner. Personally I don't do the national pride thing in the traditional corporate government sense of blind patriotism and dedication to a painted rag and silly song. Those things are created and designed to fester sentiments of inequality and justify all kinds of horrendous actions.

It's 2016 - with your thinking, you haven't evolved at all!!!

Nonsense!
Any black person who doesn't want to live in the United States should save up plane fare and go to Africa, if they think that will be better for them.
They could be appreciative of what Americans have done to give them equal opportunities and show a bit of cooperation. Instead they huddle in their own communities and complain, complain, complain.
I would love to ask that QB just how he feels black people are being treated so badly and what are they doing to improve their situations other than rioting and killing police officers!

I don't do useless and inflammatory blind nationalistic pride so I haven't evolved? I could say those who still believe going to war over a song and painted rag hasn't evolved. Those who have yet to realize the corporation masquerading as a government doesn't care about you or if you live or die so long as they profit have not evolved.

Your entire post is nonsense. Most back people living in the US were born in the US therefore have every right to be there and hold whatever opinions they choose. They also have a right not to salute the flag or stand for the anthem. That's what freedom is. Your comment "what Americans have done" is dripping with unadulterated racism. What you mean is "what the white man has done" and shows you believe they are not actually Americans but also should be grateful you released them from slavery and gave them some rights even though they aren't equal and don't deserve anything you don't grant them.

Just wondering if your KKK membership s up to date or you need to renew? My guess would be you're a closet racist and too ashamed of yourself to admit it.

Exactly! They have those rights. They also have a right to seek out a good education and to vote. They have a right to write to their Congressperson to air their grievances in a productive way.
So what are they complaining about?

You just don't get it. Having those rights and having the same opportunity to exercise those rights as everyone else are 2 completely different things. Do you really think a kid from downtown Detroit has the same educational opportunities as the white kid from Martha's Vineyard? Just because you say things are equal doesn't make it so. There is still rampant systemic racism and class warfare in America. You can believe it was all ended with the civil rights movement in the sixties but it didn't and hasn't ended yet.

You're partially correct... wouldn't it be great if those downtown Detroit schools were just as good as Martha's Vineyard schools? Who's in charge of these urban area schools anyways!?!?!

Could you explain to me then, how did some of the black people who came from inner city impoverished backgrounds come to be successful? Let's take Ben Carson as one example although there are many more.

It's a fact that a child who wants to learn will learn and cannot be prevented from learning. A child who doesn't want to learn cannot be made to learn regardless of what kind of school he goes to.

Love of learning begins in the home long before children start school. It starts with parents who plant the seed, who read to their kids, take them to the library, encourage them and teach them how exciting it can be to LEARN.

Just because you say what you say doesn't make it so either. Its just so much easier to blame inferior schools, white people or society in general than it is to take responsibility for your own live.

Your understanding of reality is rather lacking, but then so are most conservative types. Go to the ghettos and give yourself an education.

I never said it wasn't possible for an inner city kid to be successful. Just like some well-off white boys end up as career criminals. If you want to cherry-pick individual cases to prove your point you are not actually addressing the issue other than to be able to say "oh look, he did well so all the other minorities living in poverty in neighborhoods controlled by gangs should be able to also" which is bullsh^t but it makes you feel better about yourself and your racism.

Now if you just look at it in general though there is a huge disparity in success rates between the children from the poorer parts of society and those from affluent backgrounds. It has nothing to do with intelligence or color even but is determined by opportunity and support. Sure it is a great help to get your kids reading early but when the parent can't read themselves and is working 3 jobs and trying to keep the kids out of the gangs and drugs etc those kids just don't get the headstart suburban kids do.

Don't sit there and tell me everything is equal and everyone is presented equal opportunity. You may believe that but it's just you convincing yourself racism and class warfare doesn't exist.

wherever i sit down my ars
These fukks sit around in their million dollar homes, with a garage full of vintage cars, not lacking in any luxury they've always desired and after awhile they get bored and take up a cause. Not necessarily because they have compassion and empathy, but because they are fukking bored and want to look good to others. It's not like Mitch Snyder the homeless advocate who dedicated his life to helping others. It's about a spoiled rich sports figure wanting attention for himself.

The reference to Ali is apt. Back in the day, the same people criticized him, using the exact same terms. Once he died, everyone talked about how courageous he was.

Let's face it: sports figures are allowed to have opinions.

No everyone is not equal but that's their choice. They all have equal opportunity.
I raised a son myself working 2 and 3 jobs, living in a ratty little basement and scrounging for everything. But first of all I made sure I didn't have any more babies; just concentrated on doing the best I could for the one I had. My son never had the amenities that the well-off kids had, yet he grew up to be a very successful manager of a computer firm. Why? Because he was encouraged and assured that he could be anything he wanted to be if he would work for it.
So don't tell me about poverty and class warfare and racism. It's all in attitude, guts and determination, self-respect and common sense.
You can sit on your ***, feel sorry for yourself, keep popping out kids you can't afford, collect welfare and blame the world for your predicament or you can realize that the world doesn't owe you anything and get to work making the best of what you have and strviing for something better.
There are all kinds of programs to help people; councelling, adult education, and much more. All people have to do is try.
