Canada ranked 2nd most progressive country in the world

Canada has done it once again.

Our nation ranks as the second best country for social progress globally, raking in top scores for basic human needs, rights, and foundations of wellbeing.

Canada only trails behind Finland, which took the top spot in the report by Social Progress Imperative. Canada scored 89.49 points out of 100, while Finland had 90.09.

When it comes to personal rights, such as tolerance for LGBTQ people, Canada scored nearly 85 points out of 100 and came in 14th place for discrimination and violence against minorities.

Canada tied for first with several other countries like Australia and Denmark for having low levels of violent crimes.

“As with Finland, Canada is known for its social welfare policies,” reads the report. “It also leads the world on the Opportunity dimension, ranking first place in Access to Advanced Education (87.42), thanks to its top-ranking universities and access to tertiary education.”

“This may also be a sign of the success of Canada’s multicultural model.”

Where Canada falls behind, however, is on affordable and social housing. Many of the highest ranking countries, including Canada, failed to break into the top 10 on health and wellness as a result of the lack of housing options.

Our neighbours south of the border managed to take the 19th spot in the report overall.

Obviously those who compiled the list have never set foot north of 60 in Canada.

Looser means not as tight.
Loser means someone who has lost.

Why does Finland have such a high suicide rate if it's so progressive?
