Congrats Blackleaf.

Can we get a preview for what changes will now be made that have made you so ecstatic?

Congrats Blackleaf.

Can we get a preview for what changes will now be made that have made you so ecstatic?

At some date in, most likely, 2018, Britain will secede from the European Union as a self-governing, sovereign nation state.

The Palace of Westminster - standing proudly in glorious sunshine even at 5.20am this morning - will become once again the supreme seat of governance and power in the UK. No longer will that unaccountable, largely unelected, institution in Brussels full of mainly unelected foreigners who care nothing about Britain be supreme over the United Kingdom. An elected British parliament full of British citizens will, once again, be supreme. No longer will most of our laws be made by unelected foreigners; no longer will a court in Strasbourg be the highest court in our land; no longer will Britain be forced to follow a whole myriad of petty and pointless EU rules dictating things such as the curvature of bananas; no longer will we be handing £350 million of our money over to Brussels each WEEK, money which we can now spend on our schools, hospitals, housing and armed forces.

Britain will be, like Canada, a free, sovereign nation state once more.

Well we are not really that free because we still have ties to Britain, ironically.

But my real question is whether or not this will truly change policy or is this just a dog and pony show?

Economy, immigration, etc.

Not only that, but the whole world has seen, during the referendum, almost the entire global Establishment ganging up on Britain and trying to bully her into voting the way they wanted - a vote for Remain.

But, as so often when Britain is bullied and threatened, the British lion roars and the bullies get a good mauling.

The whole world has just seen Britain giving the global Establishment a bloody nose. Obama came out and said that, should Britain vote to Leave, she will be "back of the queue" for trade deals with the US. The IMF and the World Bank told the Britain that her economy would suffer if she decided to leave the EU.

Britain's response to all this - "F*CK YOU!"

I now expect other people - notably the Swedes, Finns, Danes and French - to demand their own EU referendums. France is even more eurosceptic than Britain is.

"...The terms of exit will be negotiated between Britain’s 27 counterparts, and each will have a veto over the conditions...

...It will also be subject to ratification in national parliaments, meaning, for example, that Belgian MPs could stymie the entire process...."
What happens now the UK has voted Brexit - and what is Article 50?

..."Central bankers from Japan to Switzerland have also offered to step in to provide additional liquidity - a measure not seen since the financial crisis...." ( from the above )

Its game on, but its still got a ways to go
and take a look at what other countries who have stood up to the bankers and Obomba
Libya, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan...
"...the current deployment of naval craft off Libya to intercept smugglers. Britain has a major role in this – a British warship is deployed in the EU’s naval operation)
Just look at Britians attitude to other countries who whish their democratic and fiscal freedom...." - from the above link

The British people have spoken in one of the greatest showcases of democracy the world has ever seen.

And it was a high turnout - 72.2%, I think - which I think is the highest turnout for any UK election since 1992.

Britain has decided to leave the EU and there is NOTHING the EU can do about it.

I think you tea toddling stiff lips need to rename your morning biscuit the Brexit.

A Tea & Brexit for this morning ol'chap.
Sounds good to me.

Good piece.

I'm reading about tariffs and barriers to entry.

I thought Brexit was about freedom and right wing agenda?

Britain has been in this organisation for over 43 years and we have become so deeply intertwined with this that, once the British Prime Minister (whoever that will be, but Cameron is not stepping down until October) enacts Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty it will take around two years from Britain to disentangle herself from the EU. There needs to be ratification from other Member States and it cannot be vetoed. All a Member State has to do to leave the EU is activate Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. But we do not know when Britain will decide to do that. It doesn't have to be done in the next few days. 2018 is when Britain is likely to come out.

As a side note, thank you, Mr. Farage, and all the Brexiters for knocking Donald Trump off the front page for a day.

Although Trump is happy about it, so that makes me just a tad unsettled.

As it is, we'll see what this brings. Hopefully just because UKIP's isolationist ways helped win this, they won't be a power otherwise. That would be a sad state really to see the Brits regress as a society.

Yes, but what kind of policy are we looking at here now that you are 'free'? (Lol)
