PS - How many millions of sections of land will it take to grow enough hemp to process into the products you rely on every day... Stops making sense right there, doesn't it?

How many sections of land are reforested to get from trees over twenty years what can be grown as hemp in one? Funny how one can be accused of being a Luddite when one comments about technological advances putting labour jobs to rest, yet suggest an industry that may threaten oil and those same people who attack "Luddites" circle their wagons....

Poplar and spruce outgrow hemp. A field of hemp is not an ecosystem.

There are two types of hemp. Fibre and oil seed. Economically flax beats hemp because you get both in one crop.

I know the fibre length. You can bet your as$ Weyerhauser would be using hemp for OSB if poplar didn't outgrow or outlast hemp.

Poplar farms are home to forest critters. A field of hemp has nothing but mice and the predators that eat them.

And how do you know it was? Innocent until proved guilty! :) :)

The video evidence proves him guilty let alone the many apologies he offered.

Any more thoughts on this Matlock?

You don't need to tend to the trees on an ongoing basis like you do for hemp let alone the ongoing capital costs to seed, fertilize, harvest, process, etc, etc.

Ummm, care to revise your Luddite related example re: logic?

Is that what you need for hemp? Must be weird to be Canadian.

Down hereabouts, hemp seeds were part of birdseed back in the day. Birdseed was transported in bulk by rail cars, and of course a lot of the seed fell off. It'd sprout along the railroad tracks. The old ones used to talk about when they would go down to the tracks and pick "Indian tobacco," dry it and smoke it (low-grade marijuana). Anyhow, hemp eradication was a major national project during the Depression. Kinda weird that a plant that can only be eliminated by persistent cutting, burning, and powerful herbicides in the southern part of North America needs so much care up there in the north.

My point was that to develop that as a crop which is economically viable and has an eye towards using that as a replacement feedstock for oil/gas will require a dedicated and effort... A lot of costs in doing this that are extremely more capital (and time) intensive

Not really because logic is wasted on one-track-minds

Couldn't agree more... Why, having wasted that time on explaining the obvious to you means that I will never get that time back.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want Canada investing in anything.

Over the years I've been impressed by your intelligence, you have some lumps, but they ain't fatal, obviously, that you persist in the spacetime continuim attests to mother natures good sence.

Yes, well in this phase of the 'operation. the plan doesn't include seeing it go 'up in smoke'. The firesuits made from 'it' are quite outstanding as are the stains resistant t-shirts and soccer pants. Nice to see Canada jumped on that bandwagon as soon as it became 'available'.

Hemp could be grown on the same land and be harvested in the fall until the trees were so tall the sunlight didn't get to the ground. What should happen is hemp seeds are planted by water bombers on all burned areas and the harvest could begin that year maybe, if nit the plants will die in the winter but their fibres will hast a long time and that inhibits erosion for many years. The harvesters would have to be invented and built or go back to using something from 1867. Think of it as the new version of Petrocan.
