I question the accuracy of that statement. Everything I've read says more like 3/4 of the oil produced is burned for fuel of one type or another, be it transportation, heating or power generation.

When petroleum eventually runs out, that is what we'll really miss ... all of the materials that we derive from it. Burning the stuff is almost criminal.
